What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I Traded my 05 Tahoe for an 06 Sierra Denali. Since I bought my 09 Tahoe L9H 2 years ago, I haven't driven the 05 hoe much (no real reason to). Since I will be buying a house next year, figured a truck will be much more useful than having 2 Tahoe's. However, I didn't want just any old truck, lol
Once I clean it up, I'll post more pics.

Nice trade, Mike! I know your Hoe was in very fine shape but the Sierra should work out great for you.

Today's update:
Installed the dual batteries and big 3 mod. I love the engine covers on this, it hides those wires pretty nice. Also got the airaid tube on and cleaned out all of the leaves clogging up everything. I clay barred the truck and used heavy compound on the bed which was the most abused, and polished the rest of the truck. I ran out of daylight so wax will come soon. Also got a preliminary cleaning done inside, and installed my weathertechs. I cleaned and conditioned seats for now as they were dirty, but gonna hit them with the steamer next weekend and condition again. They got really soft from just what I did so far. Now, on to the pics

Oil/filter, front diff, transfer case, and brake fluid flush.

Oil wasn't bad. Transfer case was definitely filled with ATF. (now has AT2) Front diff wasn't horrid. Brake fluid was possible original.

Transmission drain bolt was rounded off, rear diff fill plug frozen in place (darn glad I checked that before popping the cover!). Parts to order and lots more to do.

I'm hot, sweaty, tired, and happy.

Atleast you know that the trans has been drained before i guess lol. So nice to have all that done. Im still slowly working on some of those!

Posted pics of my brake issue the other day. After a new caliper and bracket off a parts truck I figured it out. The drop spindles I bought for cheap had a bent tab for the caliper bracket[emoji2359] so I put the stock spindles on and its fixed. I only discovered this by running one bolt up snug. If i get a couple threads started on one I could also on the other. Weird. But glad I figured it out

Mcguaghys. I bought a 2/3 drop off fb for 125 a couple weeks ago. Everything looked like it was never installed. Thinking maybe they were dropped. Oh well. Not much invested

Oh ok i see. Spindles were damaged. Caused pad to interact with the rotor in a weird way. New one for me! I love learning new ways that shit can be ****** up. Thank you for letting us know what happened!

Damn that’s crazy but it’s ok cause you finally got it figured out. Wonder if they were dropped or if the spindles came off a wrecked truck. Did you notice and minor damage on them? Areas that might have been “touched up” . Never thought about checking new/used spindles , but now I will. Sucks but thanks for sharing

Nothing obvious sticks out. If you look at you can see it. Never thought to check it tho

2006 GMC Yukon XL SLT.
It steers better then new. It seriously steers like My DeVille . There is nothing I could do to make it more perfect. Crazy. [emoji106]

wow ive heard nothing but terrible things about steering gear replacements other than the $$$ ones like red head. I've got 185 on my caddy and id like to do it eventually. Where did you get yours?

Rock Auto .. Its a BBB industry one . 3 year or 36,000 miles . Part stores charge double for it and give you a lifetime warranty on BBB industry steering gear. I'm going with idea if works good for 3 years all will be good [emoji106]

The rule of thumb is true about them getting super sloppy at 174,000 miles . It's hard to see the slop because steering gear under oil pressure . But the difference is steering a big deal . I read a post all steering gears with over 120,000 miles need to be replaced is pretty much Johnny on the spot. I do think 4x4 is even harder on the steering gear.

If anyone knows what those three bolts on the frame holding the gearbox on torque is let me know. I need to retorque them after I drive it for a while. There at about 140 ftlbs now.

I have 165k on my 02 Denali and it’s still tight. Drives straight as hell. I did replace the rest of the steering though.

the other problem that people have is over assisted steering. The power steering assist is variable and if your sensor is bad it defaults to full power all the time IIRC. this can make it feel a little twitchy on the highway.

How can you tell when that sensor is bad?
