Tahoe Totaled..today heavy vandalism

unfortunately my suv was vandalized
paint/ keyed scraped to hell
looks awful... so sad I only had it a month

some dick head has been putting scratches every few days


4-5 new ones today...... the whole side of the driver side is scrapped up front to back...

the last photo is when i bought it, it was in good shape

mount a dash up by the mirror and or put in a alarm system and have them make it really sensitive for the immediate time being till you catch the bastard

Those scratches look odd. Not like someone walked by with a key or screwdriver. There's no symmetry to them.
Like scratched from bushes ar holding a shopping bag up against the side while unlocking the door or when an animal is happy to see you and jumping on the side.

A camerawould be a good idea. Is this happening at home or at work. At home you would have lots of options as to where to place a camera out side of the vehicle. At work it would probalby have to be high on the rearview mirror as suggested. Man that DOES SUCK!

the only beef is with the person that use to park in my spot (The spot is assigned to me and has been for a year) (all spots are assigned) since my APT is set for 2 parking spaces(if some one has 1 parking space they can ask for a second space)

so if another car parks there I can call the tow company and have them towed away.. at any time

I have not had them towed away yet but I can if I need to do so...


this person likes this spot since it's close to his APT

I just let it go tell i had my car..did not care at the time..

nah I don't scrape up against bushes
(there is only bushes behind were i park any ways) I'm not that clumsy, and I can see just fine...

even then I have it parked perfectly so i don't even hit them while opening the tail gate.. 1 to 2 inches to spare every time (rarely use it anyways)



I have a mark on the ground to line it up perfectly so as soon as i line up the mark with the bumper on the rear camera I know that is the spot to stop at

if it was on the passenger side maybe ..that can happen
it's happing at home.. since the new ones popped up overnight while parked..


there is two perfectly parallel ones on the driver door...

I don;t have full coverage so i pretty ***** on having to pay out of pocket for repairs

Looks like who ever is doing it is running thier purse or bag across/up and down the side or something like that. Time for an all night vigil or a camera. Sorry to hear about this.

I can always try the acetone to fix it and add some paint with it

I saw my friend do this on his moms car when he side swiped the car on a pole she did not even notice it tell like 3 months later...

Sorry to see Brent. Looks to me like some little kid (with a moron parent) on training wheels is banging into your truck, those could be handlebar marks.

I've got a dash cam now and leave it on when out and at night set to motion sensing. One camera faces out the front, the other inside but can see out the back and limited sides.

I have to agrees with Serge, sadly this has happened to me before many years ago, I had all 4 doors keyed, I figured it was just random it happened at a place I would frequent on the weekends, I had full coverage so it was a $500 deductible had it painted, and son of a ***** a week later the same exact thing happened again all 4 doors!, at that point I became suspicious and started looking at exactly who had it out for me, I had one suspect that I kind of argued with a bit a "grown ass man" none the less, I confronted him about it and even though he denied it he had that guilty look, it just so happened a couple days later by dumb luck I guess, I was driving down a street in town and happened to see him leaving his house. I confronted him again the next weekend and told him if he keys my truck again that I know where he lives and that I would burn his house to the ground. Strangely enough it never happened again and he sold his house and left town several months later. good riddance to the stupid bastard, but the point is you might have it fixed and turn around have it happen again better to try and figure out what is going on first.

Sorry this is happening but it looks like it’s been wiped down with a dry cloth while it’s dirty, very easy to scratch paint.

Not a great situation, but how is that "totaled"?

cost more to to paint then its worth. cost 10,000 to repaint the whole thing. black paint doesn't blend very well like other colors do..

Unless the scratches are down to metal or something many of them may buff out and be ok. But like serge said, find out the cause and resolve that before doing anything else

The majority of the scratches do not continue from door to door or from quarter panel to door. To me it looks like someone getting in and out of the vehicle and rubbing the paint with their pants, purse or something similar.

The reason I say this is my vehicles have the same scuffed areas. Not as bad but very similar. None of those are really that bad. Between the scratches and swirling just have someone do a paint correction. The majority of those will go away unless like stated above and they are down to the metal.

Dealers / detailers will use a colored wax that hides the scratches and it will last about a month and wears off, and then you see the old scratches.
