I thought about this some more and remembered that you had a very basic tune done. I wonder if a BlackBear tune would improve the transmission performance in the areas where it bogs you down? Even the 6-speed didn't want to shift back to 2nd without a judicious amount of pedal before the tune at low speed.

My 05 is blackbear tuned, I have the ecm exchange method on the one. It really woke the LM7 up and I have 50% torque management off and all engine management off. It has 4.10 gears, and it still has the dead spot in the bottom of second gear. It's not the fault of the tune, it's just the horrific 2nd gear ratio. If you can't get the trans to downshift to 1st at 25mph, the 5.3 power band fights the gear ratio. With 4.10 gears, you would almost redline if it would downshift to 1st at 30mph. It's bad ratios of the 4 speed that hurt the 5.3, as well as the torque management.

The 4L80 ratios are even worse, haha

You're right, the 6L80s 3rd gear is like the 4L65s 2nd with a 3.42 gear. Even a 4.10 gear behind the 4-speed doesn't come close to the 6-speed's 2nd.

Right- I just had some items disabled and Torque Management reduced. No power tweaks. I'm quite certain a full tune would help. I'm holding back on the that until I finish whatever mods I'll be doing which may include a 6.0 or 6.2 swap. I know I can get an Autocal and have them adjust it over and over as I mod it. But, none of that is in the budget at the moment. Tops on my list car mod-wise is an AFM delete.

Are those prices so high because they're 6.2L or are they all that high up north? I can find Yukon Denali's and Escalade's all day long down here with similar mileages for those prices or buy a 5.3L Tahoe and swap in a 6.2L and have money left over for other repairs.

Probably both. Down here, 4x4s are rare and when you do find one they are usually raggedy and still command a premium.

Interesting. At least half of the nice looking (in the pictures) trucks I find here are 4x4 and I don't want a 4x4. I already have an Escalade for me and I was wanting a Tahoe for my wife to replace her SRX (we both like the look of the Tahoe) but the deal was that if I get a Tahoe its getting a 6.0L swap (mainly to delete the AFM and any oil consumption that's already there and because a 6.0L from a 2500 is half the cost of the 6.2L used) but by the time I buy a Tahoe and do that I could just buy a Denali or Escalade from the start and not have to do an engine swap and get the better leather, better sound deadening, etc. I do think a Tahoe with the big engine is cool and maybe if I already owned the Tahoe for a few years the value of swapping would be different.

Most of the 6.2 Tahoes are 4x4s but there is a 2WD currently for sale, maybe two. I also located two 2008s that were 2WD also.

GMC Denalis and the Escalade also came in 2WD variety, not as rare, but still have to look for them.

My own preference is to have the 4x4 capability and besides increased maintenance costs and a slight tow weight penalty, it does not appreciably reduce fuel economy numbers.

Don't NEED it but is nice to know it's there, especially for when my wife drives it. They're leaving for church in a few minutes and the roads are soaked and it's still raining, they're going to take the truck even if she'll kill the mileage and drain the tank! (My ankle/achilles is no good right now for walking)

I think it's a combination of them having the 6.2, but also that they are LTZ Trim, which was the top trim level which bumps the price up. I paid 22k for mine 2 years ago.

Current bid on the 1st one is $375.
No one bid on the 2nd one. Ssys Biohazard/chemical. When it only says Biohazard I think some body fluids, or someone died in it.

Hopefully those people are ok, wonder what caught fire in the dash of the 2nd one. If I had a house, I'd buy one of those just to have a extra drivetrain to build up.

Brought a tear to my eye.. guess mine got even rarer, lol. 2 totalled L9H Tahoe's is sad..

The second does look like a dash fire. I just found that one through the owner, guess he doesn't have it anymore!

I googled again the VIN and it brought me to another page that lists 501 6.2 Tahoe 4x4s for 2009.

Ok, found 138 6.2 Tahoe 2WD for 2009 too.

Forgive my ignorance but do both of those have those Royal grills?
