I recently bought a 2018 Yukon Denali and was wondering how long I can go between oil changes. In all my other vehicles I would go 5000 miles. Is it any different with my Denali? Also, when should I do my first oil change? It's got about 1000 miles now.

Go by your owners manual so you don’t void the warranty. The engine break in was done at the factory but read what the manual says

My dealer goes by the Driver Info Center dash gauges that indicate percentage %, and recommends oil change when it gets below 30%

Change it now. If you go by the OLM computer, it will say to change the oil every year or 7500 miles now. That's too long even for synthetic oil IMO. Consider that your new engine runs on even thinner 0W20 now. I see a noticeable improvement in performance even after changing the 5W30 in mine at 5k miles.

So then consider 4-5k intervals using your favorite synthetic oil and don't forget to rotate and balance the tires too.

Your motor takes 8 quarts of oil now.

I change mine when the oil life monitor gets to 10%, whether it needs it or not.

Local Valvoline Instant Oil Change place wanted $132.95 for oil/filter change. Chevy dealer gets $79.95, and throws in a tire rotation.

I change mine myself.

And........go by the manual keep the maintenance log in it up to date (the dealer will do this if you go there) and keep your receipts. Then call me when it’s for sale :)

our 6.2 RST is at 800 miles. Its getting an oil change this weekend before it gets put away for the winter.

It will be run on Amzoil as is all of our vehicles every 5,000 miles after that.

May be overkill,,,, but its cheap overkill and I get a warm and fuzzy feeling that im doing the best I can
