The most common upgrade option is to change to rotors and calipers /brackets from an 07-14 truck. They are 13" and a direct bolt on upgrade. You can buy nice rotors (R1, power stop, etc) and have a couple caliper options. Definitely use TIMKEN for your hubs/bearings.

Yup, that's all you need. Direct bolt on. Did it to my 03, works great. While you're there you should change those rubber brake lines to the braided ones. Huge difference.

I know there was a brake change early in the NNBS... I've see reference to use year 2008 when looking for front brake parts to avoid the very early NNBS parts. But I'm confused by the Raybestos application guide. It seems to indicate the change was made mid-way through the 2008 MY.

2007 front caliper PNs RC11713 & RC11714
2008 front caliper PNs RC11713, RC11714, RC12031, & RC12032
2009-2014 front calipers PNs RC12031 & RC12032

Clicking on more details says the details for the 2 are exactly the same. Does anybody know more about the differences?

The reason I'm asking is I'm looking to put Raybestos Optical New (lifetime warranty) calipers on mine. I see they only offer their Optical calipers for 07 & 08 part numbers but then nothing for 09-13 fronts. So if I want Opticals I have to use the first style from the NNBS and I'm wondering what the difference is.

I have never found an answer to this beyond the fact that the casting number is different. Never been able to get a side by side.

On Rockauto one is listed "w/ spreading fingers pad clips" and one "w/o spreading fingers pad clips"...

I called Raybestos and spoke to a Tech Rep. Told him I had an '08 and their catalog was showing 2 different calipers. It was hard to understand what he was saying, I have a cold with a little fluid in my ears and the phone wasn't the most clear. As I understand it, the difference is the 12031 & 12032 calipers have a pad retaining clip that interfaces with the piston and use 1367 pads. The 11713 & 11714 calipers do not have this feature and use 1363 pads. I asked if he meant the pad spreading fingers and he said no, it's a clip that actually holds the pad to the piston.

I think there may have been some miscommunication because the only difference I can find is those pad spreading fingers on the abutment clips/slides. None of the specs nor pictures that I can find list or show any other difference...
