I started on the passenger side.

For the love of god get your mounts fixed up before long tube headers!! This side is touching (I think) the starter wire on hard launches! The engine is just moving around too damn much.

Passenger side free. I should have an hour to tackle the mount tomorrow. I can't imagine doing this without the headers out.

I'll have to rip that sheild out first.

Boring updates but if I don't log my incremental efforts I'll lose steam.

I had 30min. I had to destroy the heat shield but was able to loosen all the bolts. Prepped to actually put in the fancy engine mount!

That said I have thoughts on the GM mounts and an easy cheaper okay-ish solution. The passengers side is 10 years old and looks ok. The drivers was destroyed after a year. The passenger side is under compression which the rubber can take. The drivers is under tension and gets ripped to pieces. I bet a single H3 drivers mount would be pretty good at stopping the engine movement, next to a single poly drivers, next then to two poly mounts.

Prepped.

Better yet I found an 11mm socket! Not as great as a 10mm but still good.

Passenger side in. Really, I can't think of a way doing this without pulling the exhaust manifolds or headers. Christ....

Shocks and upper control arms will be ordered tonight. Both sides are baaaaaad.

Old passenger mount is crushed. This would speed up the death of a new drivers side like mine. If you replace one with oem, then replace both!

My collector to exhaust fitting keeps slipping off on acceleration. I'll tack weld it on tomorrow. I want to be able to remove it if I try another set of headers.

Rock Auto came through. I usually do Amazon but Rock has a far better search engine and typically lower prices.

So far:
- power steering pump, pully, lines, cooler
- all trans lines
- upper control arms
- front shocks

Amazing how much rust I have!

Waiting on shock dust covers and need to pick up power steering fluid.

I had a few min to get a strut out. Man life has been busy. :-/

I also cracked loose the upper control arm.

Also my oil pan leak is looking like I should just fix it while everything is apart. Sigh...

Also this dewaDe xr impact has been a godsend. Get one! I have air tools. Its nice though not waking everyone up to fill the tank.

I got some tools coming. Deep sockets, ratchets and pass through sockets. My current tools are piece meal from looong ago. I'm old enough to get proper sets now! At least this is what I tell my wife who spends more $$ on hair than I do tools.. ok she has a PHD & MBA... OK she didn't complain when I got my 6.2 Denali... shes also former UVA cheerleader that settled for me...

What am I complaining about?

More toys!!!! Pass through socket set. These are all staying in their cases. Not pro quality but better than what I collected through my 20s working on cars in parking lots.

I'll use this set for my strut spring removal.

Great. Looks like we might have to deal with flooding. Time to slap the Yukon back together and worry about shit later. Thankfully we live on a hill.

Started last night. Suspension back together except for 1 strut. I'm waiting on a spring isolator to show up from amazon. I'll get the headers back in tonight.

God damnit.

Headers and exhaust in. Final torquing tomorrow with fasteners. Then plugs and wires. Then steering shaft. I hope tomorrow night I can at least start it. I'd like to feel the mounts.

Regarding mounts, headers fit nicely with plenty of O2 clearance on both sides. OEM mounts blow, man. /Cheech and Chong

Yaaaay, dirty...

2nd take on the post collector cat. It appears I welded on the connection further back on the headers. At least it made room for me to add s flex joint I had lying around!

This slots into the muffler.

A couple beers in, not sure how much further I'll get tonight. :-D

Got it running late last night. I couldn't sleep. I was far more careful with alignment and clamps. It's very quiet.

Also at idle the poly engine mounts seem to pass vibration no worse than worn and broken oem mounts. Maybe I felt a little more vibration in the steering wheel. No driving impressions yet.

Nothing shakes in the test video.
