Thanks for NADA tip. I used KBB and other for sale listings to value my trade but Nada is way higher than both. Not sure why.

Been following these trucks for a while so I know they have been at the dealer forever. Plus I checked the carfax and shows they have had possession since summer 2016.

They had another with 22s but I hesitated and someone bought it from under me for the same price. Dealer even tried to hide the keys for me. Oh well I think the 22s made the ride slightly more stiff.

Guess it depends on if you look at it as 2 or 3 years old. The build date was 7/16 so it’s not quite yet 2.

My thought process was I would never pay ~70k (including discounts) for a new model year Denali and this would be a good opportunity to grab a new one at Used pricing. Closest I got to buying one was a leftover 2016 slt in 2017 for 56k.

Unfortunately when they dropped the price all theee were sold in 1 day. With that kind of demand wasn’t much room.

I'm with you...laura had a few 18 SLT XL for $57k last month. 2018 Denali XL for $62,900 (MSRP 76,500), which I missed out on. For me it would have to be around $50k or less, otherwise, I'd rather spend a little more and have 2yr newer model especially given the issues these trucks tend to commonly have. Not to mention the 10spd for 2018.

Not saying it's not a good deal because it is but owning a 15 now and knowing what I do, I'd prefer to go with 4th year model run.

PhdHusky - I recently took my '13 Vette to CarMax and had it appraised. They use Kelly Blue Book. Then took it to a credit union that uses NADA and asked them to look it up. The NADA was $6000 more than KBB. I told CarMax to look up the definition of "Stealing". If people don't know, they get ripped off. I guess that is why CarMax stays in business. Do some checking before you jump...

I have been aggressively looking at the value of my trade as I'm supposed to close on the truck today. I live in a state that allows for tax credit on the trade in and also there is luxury tax so I had them take money from my trade to make the selling price below luxury tax break. All in all those two things alone are worth another 4k and it would be really hard to get that much more for my trade.

Their argument to me during negotiations was that KBB doesn't buy cars and they go by Manheim, NADA, etc...wasn't good logic.

... that's basically it. Other than the 10spd tranny, I know some of the tech changed relating to the info screen and entertainment system, interior lighting changed to blue, and I've heard the seat cushions are softer for 17+. There's different things mentioned by some like motor mounts, bushings, reprogramming of suspension, different torque converter, etc. but is probably the norm for any model from year to year.

Our 15 has the buffeting issue but with different tires and having them road forced often has masked it for the most part. We've had oil and tranny leaks, front end needed parts replaced before 50k...upper and lower ball joints. front and rear ring and pinion needed replaced and currently the rear is making noise again. It hasn't been the best truck but I'm willing to give another a try. We are considering the new expedition but leaning towards a burb or yukon xl again assuming I can get a similar deal that we had last month.

What alerted you to the ball joins and ring and pinion replacement? Squeaking? Rough shifting?

One thing I really wanted on 17+ was HDMI but I saw a thread somewhere where you could potentially change out the input module with a new one, looked plug and play.

Sorry you had so many issues, I have contemplated getting an extended warranty as i think we will keep this car for the long haul but if we do decide to get rid of it I don't think we would take that much of a hit. Bank told me the car was worth between 58-62k so already have some "equity".

You guys do realize that what they offer is based market values and auction prices and has nothing to do with nada or KBB. Hell even private party these are really just guidelines for pricing.

Anyone know the production dates of the 2016 model year? Mine was built in July 2016. I assume that’s later in the 2016 build cycle?

I would say that is early in the production. They don't usually get new models on the lot until August or September.

I think you meant late in the production cycle. The model years for the Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon seem to start production in late Summer or early Fall for the next model year.

That’s what I was thinking. I know they open up ordering for next years model around summer of previous just wanted a confirmation.

That's what I meant referring to when they receive the new models on Dealer lots. Looks like you got a really late production model, almost a 2017. Congrats on the purchase and I know there was a lot of discussion. What is important is it makes you happy and you will be the one driving it. Enjoy.

Yes you’re right, I just checked Manheim (the pricing system that dealers use) and it prices at approximately $59,000. That’s basically the auction price, the price that you could go sell to any dealer. Congrats!
