So I am thinking about getting HID reverse lights in my tahoe. I would like to know if any one has had any problems with them. I ask because I belong to TTS and they have been giving me crap for thinking about it. One asked if it would cause the tailight housing to melt or bubble. They suggest putting in led fog lights under the bumper, I dont want that I think it looks tacky.

I didn't have any problems with my HID reverse lights over the 10+ months that they were in use....

I have them as well and haven't had any problems. With the amount of time they are on, there is no way they will damage your housings. One of the best mods I have done IMO.

who makes a good reverse hid kit? Anybody use one from DDM? how much of a difference does it make for visability?

To be honest our stock reverse lights are pretty freaken bright but if you want that crisp white blue look, get the hids

unless you have rediculously dark limo tint, I dont see the need to spend that kind of money on reverse lights. Especially since they take a good 15 seconds to "warm up" and get to full intensity

I don't know of any kits for reverse applications, with mine I had to remove a tab from the HID bulb so it would sit flush in the housing.

Where do you get these? I need some brighter ones but they need to come on instantly. Anybody care to share any links?

Mine were purchased on eBay... and there was minimal delay before full brightness was reached after being powered on, approximately three seconds. Even at their weakest brightness the HID's were still brighter than my stock bulbs. Having matching light all around my vehicle was great at night with the approach/exit lighting.

Sounds good enough if they took only 3 seconds. But wait. Were yours just bulbs or did they come with a ballast and everything to install?
