Check your oil cooler lines.

Oil cooler....as in engine oil cooler? Not sure 1500 Tahoe's had that? I know the oil cooler block off is in place right above/in front of the oil filter mount.

Theres only one oil in a Tahoe and that would be Engine Oil. Both of my 2003 Tahoes have an oil cooler and so does my 2005 Yukon Denali.

Ok, can someone provide some info on where the engine oil cooler is located and where the lines leave/enter the engine block? I have yet to locate or ID an engine oil cooler on my '04. I see trans cooler, and ps/hydroboost cooler only.

Thank you! Looks like the TSB won't apply to me since I'm in an '04. Thanks again.

Now if I could locate the source of the dirty top side, have the dirty bottom side too, but it's wet and drippy down there....I'm thinking rear cover and/or oil pan.

It may still apply. The TSB I referenced was for my 2002 Tahoe, and was issued in 2002. I would still inspect your knock sensors and if they're still in the valley cover plate, place a bead of RTV just as in the 2002 TSB. Sometimes these TSB's aren't updated to include all relevant years.

I believe the oil cooler lines enter/leave just above the oil filter. If you just have a block off plate there then u do not have an oil cooler.

Would you mind posting a picture or pictures of these oil coolers & connections to engine that your 03 and 05 have? I'd love to see what that setup looked like. Thank you in advance.

Any chance you could post a picture or two of the oil cooler that is on both of your Tahoes? I'd like to see what the factory set up for an oil cooler looked like. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that link. I was interested in seeing what Rockola1971 had on his Tahoe's. I've never seen an oil cooler on any Tahoe, which is why I asked him.

The 6.0 oil cooler is common. I've had it on my old 6.0 2500HD truck. Not saying a Tahoe didn't have it as an option, but I'd like to see it and know the RPO code that adds that option. Hopefully rockola1971 will post up.

I guess rockola1971 doesn't have engine oil coolers, and he is just mistaken or confused about what "cooler" he is looking at in the grill, in front of the radiator. I still think the factory installed engine oil cooler was a no go on a Tahoe.

Not trying to hijack but I'm having similar problems with rough idle and didn't want to start a new thread for basically the same problems. I've replaced all four 02 sensors, removed my k&n cai and replaced with OEM air intake, new maf, new plugs, wires, coils, fuel injectors, fuel pump/filter/regulator etc. all ac delco parts

I went ahead and ordered new knock sensors, harness, permatex rtv silicone, intake manifold/valley cover gaskets, and a new intake manifold...I want to try and replace everything but the intake manifold first to see if that resolves my issues.

The only thing that's got me scratching my head is, after I disconnect the maf sensor plug it runs and idles perfect????? I pulled 5 codes yesterday...any help would be greatly appreciated

Can anyone confirm the torque settings for tightening the knock sensors, is it 15 inch lbs or foot lbs? Also need torque settings for tightening the 10 intake manifold bolts. I've been searching and I keep getting different numbers
