So today I removed the plastic trim and running boards from my 2002 Z71. I am embarrassed to say it took me 2.5 hours . However, I love the look of it now. This is a 2 inch lift by the way. This was a perfect project to teach my 8 year old how to remove rivets and rusty bolts! She enjoyed it.

I have included a photo of all of the stuff I took off because I was amazed how much it was.

PS: Half of my rivets had fallen out.

I’ve thought about doing this on thecopcar, but realized the lower edge of the running boards is about even with the bottom of the frame. So no real gain except the cosmetics. I decided I’d rather keep the running boards to sacrifice instead of my rockers.

Does anyone know if these nerf bars and the plastic rocker panel covers would fit on an ‘05 Yukon? I have holes rusted through my existing rocker panels on the driver and passenger sides and this would be a much easier and faster fix than putting OEM rocker panels back in and painting them. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I do like the look with the 2" lift! Nice!!

Since the steps really don't take any clearance away, I will probably keep mine on. While not the same as rock sliders, the tubes do provide some level of additional protection to the doors and rockers (if I had rockers LOL... replacing this coming spring). The doors on my 04 have very few dings in 18 years on the road.

Hey there,

Curious how the drilled rivet holes look? Also, did you just peel the black/grey tape off the top of the rockers? Got mine down to the rivets today
