This area. That one just kinda hanging out there. I didn't even notice the windows. The more I look, the less I notice it.

So you're going with the larger windows across that entire wall?

Haven’t decided on how it will end up honestly. We were more concerned about the floor plan. The small things like window sizes and whatnot are TBD. We still have about 3yrs until we decide to build.

The area in between the dormers is the 2 upstair bathrooms. There won’t be one large one. I like a lot of peaks on homes so I prefer the individual dormers if that makes sense. That was part of what I told the architect when he was designing our preliminary drawing.

Another meeting yesterday with the builder and architect. We went room by room and around the entire house and made some changes. Nothing super crazy. We added a wall over in the scullery, moved some windows and doors around, made the upstairs bedroom all the way on the right bigger so we can add bunks in there, and added an upstairs laundry room. We also removed the overhang that is over the windows just outside the greatroom. This allowed us to basically stack 2 sets of 8' windows to create a more seamless wall of windows. Doing this, we had to move the doors in the greatroom to where the windows in the dining room were. I personally like that better. We also turned the house a little more counterclockwise to give it a longer unobstructed view of the lake.

We added a drop zone where the garage door enters the house by the laundry room. And we are also looking at adding the provisions for an elevator shaft in the event we add one at the time we build, or we add one as we get older. But at least the house will have room for it where we dont need to worry about retrofitting one in.

We discussed next steps/phases. Once we get the floorpan approved, we can have the surveyor stake the house pad and tag which trees need to be removed. That will allow us to clear the lot and thin out the trees. We also talked about capping the old well and drilling a new one in the meantime, so thats an option before we build.

I'll post up the "semi-final" revised floor plans later this week. The architect said he can have those back by Friday.

Got the updated plans a few hours ago. Wife and I are gonna mull thru it over the weekend. I think we hit all the points on this one. One change we are going to make is changing Suite 2 bathroom to a tub. With the bunk room there for the grandkids, i think a tub is a better choice.

Size doesn't matter. It's what you do with the counter top and the size you have that matters.

...or something like that.

How's the dock and plans coming along?

Plans as far as Phase 1 are complete. Phase 2 and 3 wont be for a few years.

Dock is coming along. We had some issues with them hitting rocks or stumps on the larger pilings, so they had to kinda reconfigure that part. Looks like they have one more set of pilings to add to the last leg of the dock by what I can see on the cameras. Then framing should start.

Not a whole lot of change on the dock. But all the piers are set finally. They start framing next week. And decking should start the end of the month. Excuse the tree for being in the way.

Little slower than anticipated but we dont need it until July anyhow.

Had a short meeting with the architect yesterday. We made the changes to the Suite 2 (bunk room) upstairs to add the tub/shower. We also pushed the entire back of the house back 2' to allow the kitchen to be wider and enabled the kitchen island to be 10.5' long. That made the master bedroom and the upstairs bedrooms a bit larger as well. But the kitchen size was important.

With that said, we are moving into Phase 2 of the design where they draw up the plans to include the measurements, roof plans, plumbing, etc. Also included is a 3D virtual walk-thru of the house where we can walk room by room to see how it lays out, shows all 4 sides of the house in 3D on the actual lot, etc. This can also be used for bidding purposes. Last Phase is Phase 3, which is the engineered plans to build, which we dont know when that will be. But pretty stoked about Phase 2.

I'm still not 100% sold on the garage layout, but the architect told me to see it on Phase 2 and if we dont like it, they will redesign it. So we shall see.
