Thanks for the opinions guys. I did this for me and wanted a cleaner look rather than my nasty carpet you see. I'm not the first to do this. There's maybe 4 or 5 other guys I've seen doing this and have loved the look. Already getting compliments!

I'm wanting to do this but in a grey wood but I'm thinking about using expanding foam and leveling it with a long saw and then sanding flat just to have a super solid base. Or put a piece of like 1/4" medite under it. Yours came out nice my man and has given me the want to go ahead and do mine in 2 weeks. I think I may glue 1/2" quarter round down the sides so there's no visible gap.
