There’s a lot of bad information in this thread and that’s all I’m going to say on that.

Battery wise, I have ran SLA, AGM, and Lithium in my 07, and 16 Yukons. No issues with any. 07 currently has an antigravity lithium in it with zero issues. I have 4 years on another antigravity battery in my TDi Audi. That car is programmed to think it has an AGM battery and zero issues there. They are expensive but direct drop in replacements. And have built in jump starter.

I had more issues with my Yukon before I bypassed the ****** RVC charging system. With it bypassed the truck runs fantastic and no issues with any battery.
Please elaborate. THis is obviously a misunderstood area. I was told this by a company that sells electric vehicles that either have lead or lith batts.

Best practice is to gather your information and data from a source that has no skin in the game.

.edu sites are typically the best. Find an engineering program that does research on the topic and email the staff. For example, my wife is a scientist, and they looooove sharing info as long as it's not trade-secrets. Skip paying the fee to search through JSTOR, and just reach out directly.

if someone at an electric car company told you this, it was a sales rep that knows nothing about what he's selling byond how to sell.

what part of everything is wrong do you need details in?

if you want a drop in lithium battery. buy one from a big name brand like antigravity, Dakota or Optima in their orange top line. i have hands on experience with 2 orange tops now, and they are excellence. 2 ground power unit made in France, designed for diesel engines but sold to the US converted to 12v system with Ford gas engines had constant battery issues, like few times a week dead battery because the canbus system did not shut down properly at 12 volts or under, which a lead acid is almost always at with a load in it without the engine running. These particular units take five minutes to shut down with a 5 amp load on the battery after the engine is shut off. lithium seems to hold high 13s at all time and has fixed the issue. 800$ battery saved easily 1000s in replacing batteries, labor costs and equipment down time.

to install...read the instructions, install the battery. download the app and connect. that's literally all you need to know. if found dead, open the app or hit the jump start button on the battery. start equipment. let run for about 10mins, battery will be fully charged by the alt with zero damage to either.

if you don't want to speed the money on the consumer based setups and want to diy your own battery from parts off Alibaba.com. you will then need to know the basics. the basics being you go on ebay, buy a diy battery box kit that will house 4 lithium phosphate cells in around a 100ah size. install them into the housing. buy one of the 100s of(bms) battery monitoring systems for about 30$. wire that in as well. that will control the cells, keep them balanced, limit incoming power at around a 100amps, limit out going to between 400-800amps. and if Temps get high it will stop charging or discharging until the return to normal.

It's literally not rocket surgery and not scary. it will not blow up, catch fire burn your car/Truck down. no one will die. it's less dangerous than a standard lead acid battery which can and have blown up in people's faces. where the poor. tech runs around the shop blind looking for water to wash off the acid that's eating his skin.

my 2 cents is it you do want to diy wait another year or so and get the sodium based cells, as those are even more stable at below zero Temps and going to be cheaper. again, those will not murder you either.
