Why do so many lift kits exclude Auto-ride?

What is the issue with the Auto-ride that makes lifting it so expensive? Most of the cheaper kits say "No auto ride." I get the fact that some of them replace the shocks and that could cause issues, but I don't understand the rest.

So, why is it so hard to lift an Auto-ride equipped truck?
