I'm looking into some new wheels/tires for my DD Tahoe. I'm not into the big wheels...I'm more of a classic/stealth persona.

My Tahoe currently has a 2" spindle drop, but I've got 1" drop coils and shackles in my garage ready to be installed when I get the time. Currently, I'm running 15x8 TT2 (275/60 rubber) but am looking to go to a 17 or 18 wheel. I thought wider (9 or 10") would be good too since I like a wide footprint. Any suggestions?

As far as tires go, I need to keep some sidewall, because it does seeing regular towing duty...

Just in case truck aesthetics help...
  • Tahoe color: dark green
  • Tinted windows
  • Debadged
  • Smoothie front bumper

You don't like "big wheels" so what size are you thinking about what what is your definition of "big wheels"? A pic of the vehicle would also (i'm a visual kinda person :))

I'm looking at running a 17" or 18" wheel. I want to keep the unsprung weight as light as possible, while keeping a stiff sidewall that allows towing.

I don't think that I could run more than a 30" overall diameter with a 3" front drop (at least not with a wider footprint - 275 to 295).

Attached is a pic of my pre-spindle drop Tahoe (on 16x8s and 275/60/16 Toyo Proxies (29" overall) - neither of which I have anymore). I'm currently running 15x8 TT2s with 275/60/15 Firestone Indy 500s (28" overall).

Anyone heard anything good/bad regarding the XD Crank and Monster wheels?
How do you think the matte black would look on my truck?
Also, how can a 17x9 wheel weigh more than the same wheel in 18x9?

I've heard good things about the XD and Monster wheels for their quality. As far as the Matte black I'm not sure it'd go with the theme you already have going with all the chrome on the front end and your chrome rear bumper. I'd be concerned that if you went with a black rim along with your black mirrors and running boards the suddenly the chrome rear bumper and all the chrome on the front (along with clear lights) would look out of place. To where as it sits now all that stuff looks really good and flows with the chrome wheels. If it was me, I'd stick with a polished or chrome wheel but that's just my 2 cents

Thanks... I was thinking the same thing.

What size wheel/tire package would you recommend given an eventual 3/2 drop? I'm having a hard time trying to figure that part out - I have no issues with my current setup at all, but not sure what would happen with a wider/taller wheel/tire combo.

I'm not very good with tire sizes so someone else will have to chime in on that part considering the drop but I'd go with the larger 18" wheel if it was mine. There are many others who are more knowledgeable than me when it comes to what size tires you should get without having to worry about rubbing and still have a good sidewall on there.

Now that I've been looking wheel and tire weights, doesn't seem to be a huge difference among the 17-20" range...still think 18" would be the largest I'd go.

Those look really nice man! I like it. I also really like the color of your ride and what appears to be LEDs out back :waytogo:

Good eye 07Burb... those are my "backup" LED tails. I have another set that I've been needing to reinstall - more LEDs than the ones in the pic.
