GMC will stop taking orders in April for the 2022. The factory will have two months (May & June) to finish the orders with a TPW and switch over to the 2023 line. From what I have noticed gmc does waves of production. For example last week a lot of dealers had SLT but hardly anyone had Denali and around 50 diesels for the week.
Advanced technology package will be 0% until April but no date. So if your getting your order pushed for this year there is a good chance you have to remove that feature. I didn’t make 2021 and doesn’t look like I will make 2023 either. I have been first in line at my dealership but fully loaded diesel is like ordering a unicorn.
Oh well my car still works so I keep waiting
When do they start making 2023s?

This is what my dealer told me too. I pulled my 22 order and am waiting for the 23. I'm thinking that at least for the initial run, GM has accepted contracts from all of their suppliers and at least a first batch will get built as specced. My dealer is fairly large and I know I'll have an allocation for my spec.

@GTPace500 you’re saying that you pulled your 2022 order and plan to order 2023 model since the suppliers have committed to the initial run of 23’s next fall? Does this mean that the 2022 production won’t meet all existing orders prior to cutoff? Sounds as if you’re voluntarily giving up place in the existing order line to take a direct chance at the 2023 production?

Took delivery today of my shiny new 2022 Yukon 4WD SLT with Max Tow Package! It had a whole 2 miles on the odo. Good luck to all that have vehicles ordered, don't know what I would have done without all the help and encouragement from this forum waiting for it to happen!

Yukon Reserve Package + Diesel ordered 03/02/2022: Asked dealer if they have an allocation and what position my order is in. Currently mine is #54. Expects it will take 6-9 months before build. If the build lapses into to 2023 builds, the order will be fulfilled as a 2023. Knowing this, I kinda hope it does.

Wait you ordered your car in June/ July and still don’t have it?!?!?!

That seems very fishy. Are you sure the dealer even submitted the order

Yes, I confirmed with GM as well for each order. First one in 2021 then had to change it to 2022. I have made changes a couple times to accommodate constraints. Every order was submitted to GM and none have been accepted.

Honestly there is .01% your order will be picked up as a 2022. Unless everyone ahead of you says they wait to wait. I have not even seen Ana location for a reserve package yet. Also diesel is like winning the lottery. If I were you I would double down and find a dealer that doesn’t have a long wait. I don’t know where your located but I have waisted a stupid amount of time on diesel and Yukon orders and I have a few dealers that have a short list. Pm me if you want options

As long as the dealers aren't requiring a deposit or the deposit is refundable - I'd personally place multiple orders at a few different dealerships

My main consideration with going to other dealers is I’m not interested in paying above invoice pricing. However this is good advice.

mine was built the week of 2/7, shipped via rail on 2/12, arrived in Chicagoland 2/21 I believe, but now has been sitting at the rail yard/distribution center ever since waiting on transport!! my dealer is like 20 mins away, but they say there is nothing they can do, talked to GM yesterday and they said the same thing. My dealer keeps getting these estimated dates for arrival (2/23, 3/4, 3/8, 3/13, 3/14) GM said there is no current delivery date. By far one of the most frustrating experiences I've had to deal with!

I’ve never heard of a dealer not requiring a deposit to custom order a new build….but it should 100% be refundable

Mine didn't ask for a deposit. I asked why, he said if I cancelled or backed out there was a line of people who would buy it. I am paying MSRP for it.

My experience with deposits...

Local Chevy/GMC dealer (probably in the top ten in sales in the state though) - no deposit required for order (pricing at sticker)

Chevy dealer 30 miles away in "bigger" city...$1000 deposit, refundable (pricing at sticker)

GMC dealer 30 miles away in "bigger" city - other side...$1000 deposit, non refundable but salesman said they had been refunding some where buyers had backed out (pricing at sticker)

Ram dealer out of state offering +11% off sticker...$1000 deposit and non-refundable...to the point they were accepting deposits on credit cards and had some "buyers" contest the charges and they have moved to only accepting wires. I have read in multiple places that they legally can't require it to be non-refundable, but at the end of the day, if you're serious about buying and will be getting almost $10k off when dealers are still charging sticker or above, why would it matter if its refundable or not....

With very little knowledge of how each brand handles a special order, it's possible the repercussions of not selling a GM vehicle to the name on the order isn't as harsh as other brands...think some brands either their allocation is dinged and/or the dealership may not be able to sell that vehicle for a specific time period (have heard 30 days without a penalty for Ram)...

agree with this sentiment...seems some are actually getting Tahoes/Yukons bought below sticker, but I'd guess those are the exceptions. Have two on order, one at sticker (the one we actually want) and the other at supplier price. Had initially planned on buying the supplier price one first and then selling it when the other one came in as it had a month earlier TPW than the one at sticker....

Now the TPWs have changed to where one has moved up two weeks and the other has moved back five weeks essentially nixing the plan of buying both.

One other note, it took one of the orders almost 2 months to get accepted so in the meantime I contacted quite a few dealers on in transit vehicles, all sold or just priced stupid ($10k over)...have had three different calls back in the past week where the reasonable dealers either had allocations or had buyers back out when the Tahoes showed up...if some aren't as particular on what they "want"

In North Carolina not a single dealer who does refundable deposits, nobody below MSRP, many are above and to get the deposit back my neighbor had to involve an Attorney General even before order was accepted. Tough market here. Get the refundable part in writing.

Purchased in NC. Custom order, no deposit required, at supplier price, and no dealer add-ons. Took delivery 1/7.

Who is 11% off a Ram? When I looked a few months back, the best I saw was I believe 6%

I’m an SUV guy, but getting frustrated with GM
