What the hell does this switch do?

What is the little switch on the left side?
Also what is pulling the the whole lever doing with my headlights? Is the switching to high beams?

I have never had trouble figuring out how headlights in a car work before

I just disable the daytime running lights by pulling the big finned deal from under the dash.

That's for the cruise control! That stalk was first used in the 1981 G-Body cars (Regal, Cutlass, Monte Carlo, etc.)

If I remember right, there's a button in the end of the stalk that will turn the cruise on /off. When it's on, you will get a little "speedometer" looking light on the dash (green, I think). That little switch is the accel/resume and coast button.

Here you go since your letters have rubbed off. Switch it to “on” and mash the button on the end to set cruise.

Oh yeah .... I knew I was foggy. The button on the end is the set/coast. The arrow is confusing.

I think I just left mine in the on position all the time... Hit the set button when I wanted it.

Now how do i turn on my high beams?

Pull the lever forward, the blue indicator will come on in the center of the speedometer.

It doesnt come on. Neither does the check engine, i must have quite a few lights out. Anyone want to take a pic right when they turn theirs on so i can see all the lights im missing?

Those old trucks might not have a dash light that comes on when the cruise is on and or engaged.

If you pull stalk towards you gently and either hold it there or let go the highbeams will come on to ‘flash someone’ then go off. pull it so it ‘clicks’ and highbeams will stay on. Blue light on dash may not come on unless you click it all the way

Turn key foward without starting and all dash lights/indicators will come on. When you start cel should come on as a check. It’s possible someone pulled the bulbs on yours because it was constantly on. Not uncommon.
