im not a fan of oiled filters... i live in a dusty environment, so i think will suffer from clogged... and yes the one i removed was oiled... and much much smaller that the stock S&B oiled or not.... i prefer dry disposable filters and my power and throttle response woke up bigtime... i love it newly

Yes, and the oil eventually deposits itself on your MAF, and then performance issues really start to happen.

When in doubt, there is no doubt.

Just pull the two torx screws, and spray it with some MAF cleaner. It takes all of three minutes.
