How can I find out the towing capacity of my 2013 Yukon XL 2wd with the 5.3L?

Look at the RPO codes in your glovebox and see if you have the tow package (you'll have to google those, I don't know them off the top of my head), or plug your VIN into a decoder and it may tell you some of that info.

Isn’t that the driver’s door pillar sticker?

The glove box sticker has a bunch of RPO codes that tell you what options and equipment you have.

The only reference I saw for the 3.08 RA was 5000lb.

Just an aside, but I just did my VIN and there are errors on the report. I don't think the towing capacity stuff is wrong but the suspension codes are definitely wrong.

His trailer tow capacity is NOT 8100.

If you look closely, all that is doing is giving a range, from 5100 to 8100.

OP has the 3.08 "soccer mom" ratio, which absolutely kills the towing rating.

Oohhh, here's an idea... What does the owner's manual say?

Great info. The VIN decoder gives a range only and doesn't specify the capacity by ratio.

I suspect if he attaches and starts towing an 8100lb trailer, the practical reality will shine through, hopefully before something breaks.

He'll start burning up the trans and motor, that version doesn't have the capacity to shed enough heat towing that much.
