what gears to use for my 99 Tahoe

Alright I have 3.42 front and rear. What gears would be best to get better. MPG,and performance. I don't tow alot be I will when I have too

try this chart. I would not spend the money to go to a 3.73 since the change is minimal.

After looking at this chart, isn't MPG and Performance mutally exclusive? Don't you kinda have to pick one or the other?

You could stay in the middle, but that's close to stock, so why bother modding?

According to that chart with factory tire size and 3.42 I am beyond the better mileage area. If I kept stock tire size I would need 4.11 gears just to bee near the green center bands. And get my rpms up into a better power band spot.

If you have 3.42's jump to 4.10's if you have 3.73's jump to 4.56's. Makes it worth the change.

That is my plan if I keep stock tire diameter and will move up on gear scale depending if I fit a bigger tire in places. Saw the Revo 2 in 285/75-16 in person and want to go that route. Unfortunately tire would have to get done before gears so with a 3.42 ratio I will suffer for a while.

4.56 is better for highway with 35s, all city I would do 4.88

I know its common for 4x4s to run 4:10s and 4:56s, typically for being lifted and running larger tires. But, for a DDer running on the street especially highway I think 3:73s would be a very good choice.

3.73 would be good for a 33" or less. I ran 245 tires with 3.73 gears and wanted my 4.56s. Bigger tires NEED bigger gears.

finally i been able to get on for some reason everytime i been trying to get on here it would freeze my computer... anywho. i have a 4x4 this is a daily driver i run 285 50 20 i tow everyonce in a while. so what would be my best bet for better perfomance and also better mpg?

umm i thought the series tire i was running now was like 265-75-16s? not sure what that correlates into but there ya go
