Started investigating why the rear A/C would blow cold. Looks like the blend door is broken.

I glued and wrapped a thin sheet of steel around the whole flap since I didn't think it would hold with just glue. Still works years later, not great as I think air gets by it as the movement is limited but works good enough.

Drove through some mud this morning so I washed it
I have found this is the best car wash soap you can get for a black vehicle. A one gallon jug lasts me about 3 or 4 years. Makes it look like you just polished and waxed it

It was not today but yesterday I put a 50k mile rebuilt transfercase in my 03 Yukon. Got a brand new Encoder motor out of it too! I will say it is a absolute bastard and a half to do it by yourself on the ground with no lift. Heavy as I'll get out. But after 3hrs I got it swapped fought getting the front drive shaft for a hour alone then about 40 min trying to muster the strength to manhandle the thing into place. Lost about 1/2 quart of trans fluid on the test drive (I apparently needed to tighten them a bit more after a short drive) but she all good now no leaks but a tiny one (my stupidity on a gasket tear no more in town and I'm making a 5hr drive today) so she will work for now.

Pretty! Does it scrape?
Haven't noticed any scraping, where would it happen?

I think the rear is hitting the trimmed bumpstops on big bumps so I foresee some frame cutting in my future.

Gotta say getting in and out is much easier now and loading my toolboxes in and out of the back is easier now too.

I like the easier in and out myself too. Watch your head under the tailgate hatch and front hood corner edges.

Over the last few weeks I started by replacing the Bose speakers in my 06 Suburban...that morphed into "hey, let's add some sound deadening"....then went down the rabbit hole of adding lizardskin to the inside of the panels (sound deadening AND ceramic thermal spray-on insulation)... SMH

Oh, I painted my door handles. That's actually what I thought I would do initially. Dangit. LOL

But truck is actually much quieter now. I wasn't really expecting much, but it's a nice improvement. I'm going to make these improvements to my 99 Silverado now (monkey covering eyes emoji).

I also tried to rout a new wire for the rear door lights, but I couldn't figure out how to get the wire through this connection at the pillar. I was originally thinking of drilling a hole adjacent (with maybe a grommet)?

Now that put everything back together, I'm thinking of ADDING a wire to that connection. Just need to take it apart to figure out what pins I need. Or steal one from the wrecking yard to steal some pins?

Will also be adding the footwell lights...

Quest for a grey rear captain’s seat recline lever was successful yesterday at a small salvage yard I’d never been to. Did some touch up paint on the top. Got it all re-protected and cleaned up
You need to replace your overflow tank so it is as clean as the rest of your truck.

Fenders, fender liners, or uneven road surfaces. That is what I meant.

Finally managed to source and retrofit a 2005 Escalade Platinum cooled/heated cupholder unit to my 2005 Denali XL, way more complicated then it should have been and had to buy a second unit to replace the tar and hair covered circuit board in the first one I bought. It was pretty difficult to find any info to help restore it, but now my drinks stay ice cold and dont dilute my drinks any more!

Upgraded front suspension. After 244K miles it was overdue.

New UCA, lower ball joints, tie rod (inner & outer), sway bar end links, pitman arm, idler arm support & idler arm.

IMG_2795.jpegIMG_2794.jpeg

Took it in for an alignment afterwards.
That’s when the real trouble started….

Shop foreman called me back to the shop area to “show me something”. (Never a good sign). The hard brake line on passenger side front frame was leaking @ the plastic clip on the frame. Oval pit in the line had developed into a hole and line started leaking onto the floor.

Shop willing to cut me a deal on the brake line replacement…

Good news is alignment is dead on according to the technician.

Tahoe purchased new in N TX and lived here all its life. Rarely saw significant snow on annual trips to the rust belt states (OH / PA)…. But, go figure.

Still worth it… Love my GMT800.
