What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

You need air movement regardless of frequencies. Some people might not realize that. Show me a sub enclosure that doesn't have holes; usually a big ass hole the size of the sub. Unless you want a big old vibrator back there. Your gf might like it though.

I had a sealed q logic box with a Boston Acoustic 12"sub made for sealed enclosures in my old truck. It had a nice tight sound to it. I didn't like the boomy sound of lower end ported boxes.

Ffwd to my JL 12w7 in their H.O. ported box and it has the same tight sound only a lot louder and it isn't boomy. My JL can move a lot more air. That Boston Acoustic would have been lost in a ported box.

I think it comes down to woofer design and your music taste. U can lose sound with a woofer not designed for a ported box, especially a single woofer. If you want cheap booming sound go ported, but you will want to upgrade the woofer to get some SQ back.

Not today, but took Big Red down to Cedar Key on the 4th. First time ever being down there. Took about an hour and a half drive from where we live in Ocala. Really cool place. Definitely going again.

One a sidenote, the old 'hoe did great. There was one instance of the transmission being weird though. Stopped at a stopsign and the transmission didn't shift down into 1st. Only did it that one time on the way there and hasn't done it since. Maybe time for a filter change?

Yeah I worded that wrong. The MTX Thunderform IS a sealed enclosure for one thing. But someone advised @Tonyrodz to not drill out the grill in the rear panel and instead just glue a board there which puts the sealed enclosure inside another sealed enclosure (the rear panel). That's a sub box inside another box (the rear interior panel enclosure) inside a third box (the truck itself). Not a good idea IMO.

I was too quick to celebrate. The driver side got me. The bolt broke flush with the head, and if that is not enough, that is the bolt closest to the firewall, so it's very difficult to get to it either with a drill bit or with a welding gun. A mechanic quoted me $150 to get it fixed, so I will report back once its done

Yeah dude I think both sides on mine broke at the very back towards the firewall and maybe even the ones in front of those it had a bad exhaust leak so I grabbed a ratchet to see if I can just snug them up and as soon as I put the sock it to them they just fell right out like they were sitting in their dead. My dad owns an auto shop here in town and he said that's common for these things.

Badass man! I have been searching Craigslist and offer up here in AZ trying to find one of those and the one that goes under the console to. I'm not a big huge Bass fan so between the two I think it would be more than enough

Dorman makes a clamp for those broken exhaust manifold bolts that actually works pretty damn good if it's one that you can't drill out.

So, maybe I don't need a new trans...

Noticed in the last week the locks cycling as I drove, last Monday the truck wouldn't respond to my aftermarket alarm and being an old installer I realized the oem actuators "fell asleep" (I remember it being an issue in the bay years ago when the NBS first came out)....still having a stumble from a dead stop, but was occurring in all gears so I knew it wasn't gear related/was something else. No codes thrown on a cheap handheld or through Torque app.


So, I realized while on my second 3hr drive this week that the trans would shift fine for awhile and the locks would cycle and go back to the crappy stumble. Checked all fuses, all good...removed TCB and ECM fuse under hood for few minutes, reinstalled, and tightened down ground cable at battery. Seems to have worked for now.

May need to finally get a post mount battery and do the big 3....cheaper than a new trans

Cliffs notes: bad battery ground, ****** shifts due to BCM resetting due to said ground cable, truck shifted perfect last 50 miles of the trip and on side roads from a stop....keep fingers crossed.

Changed out the washer fluid reservoir for the third time in the eight years I've owned it.
