Overall how's the satisfaction with the vehicles. Anyone on here had issues with the wind or cabin noise

Wrong thread, but after 1400 miles I'm loving it. Just put the plates on it this last week.

I put two sets of Thule Aerobars on the top today. I have a Thule Sonic XXL cartop carrier, a rooftop tent, and a camp shade that goes up there. Easy to carry 10' lumber up there, too.

Installed the Denali grille today. Now its time to pick some wheels. Bet I've looked at 1000 wheels and haven't found one I want yet. Like the GM accessory wheels the most so far.

Install the antenna for my dual-band radio today. It's routed inside, but need to route it up to the radio.

Ben, Can you give a better idea how you mounted the antenna? Close up pix? I'm not wanting to ********* the roof if possible. Thx

I assume you mean me.

It's a Diamond HRKS adhesive mount.

I got the kit that come with a groundless antenna, it's the one in the picture. I live in DFW where there are repeaters everywhere, so I am actually running a stubby antenna right now, and it works fine for hitting local repeaters around town. I put the full size antenna on when I get out on the road.

I just got my radio mounted today.

Not totally happy, as I wasn't able to find a good way to breach the firewall, so the power is coming in through the door seal from the front fender. I was running out of time, so I just finished it up and will probably try again next weekend.

If anyone cares, the left side of the console has a Proclip mount with a Scosche magnet mount on it. I run a thin metal plate inside my iPhone case and it just sits there on the left side. On the right side is also a Proclip mount with a Scosche magnet. There is a plate stuck to the back of the radio controller, so I can pop it off the magnet and put it in the console when I'm parking. The mount comes off easily, as well, so I just pop it off when I'm not going to be running my radio for a bit.

k thanks ...

Im on a long road trip and since this is the first K2XX I've driven for more than a dealer test drive I was going to note my impressions compared to the GMT900s, so I just wanted to make sure I was driving the latest version.

Techbrute, Yes I meant you. Please accept my apologies. I was excited to see an antenna mount and rushed. Nice clean setup, can you show the radio mount. What radio is that? I'm using Proclip mounts also with IOmagnets for my phone and tablet. They allow for tilt and swivel. I'm a newb ham in the Chicago area and was just getting to this point. Thanks in advance.

Here is the mount under the radio: http://amzn.to/1cGT8Sn

I just stuck an adhesive metal plate to the back of the radio controller. The radio is a Yaesu FTM-400DR.

I hope that information was what you were looking for.

Here is the antenna kit:

And the radio:

I needed an extension for the antenna cable, and a couple RF adapters to tie it together. With nice cabling and power wiring, it's probably around $800 for this little project. You can do it a lot cheaper, I just prioritized a few things others might not, like aesthetics. In that case, a radio with a remote face becomes important.

The things I am looking to change is a) the power cable route, and b) the speaker situation. I'm looking for a small external speaker that I can mount in an unobtrusive location. Right now, the radio transceiver is in the armrest, and the speaker is built in to the transceiver. I wish it was in the control unit, but I suppose that would make the control unit more cumbersome.

I could patch it in through the aux in on the stereo, but I want to be able to listen to music as I scan.

Here is my set-up.
I have a high band radio and a scanner. I ended up putting two antennas on the roof, I'll post pics later of that. But I made everything fit in the center console, so it's out of the way. My speaker is mounted on the inlet in the center console, so where your right knee is.

When to the hand wash car wash here in town today. They have a great VIP program, 425 per month and you can get it washed every day...
