While a few friends, family, & I worked on getting the house prepared and ready for Hurricane Dorian, Color match paint operations continued and are close to completion. All of the parts will get color sanded and buffed tomorrow and will be ready for install. Quick turnaround my painter never disappoints.

That’s awesome ! Can’t wait to see the finished product on the truck. If you don’t mind me asking, how much are you paining to have your trims painted?

Thanks Alex. Me too. Once this hurricane is done and over, I will see if I can get the pieces on the ride. I am backed up on mods at the moment. I have headers and suspension components that I picked up from the shop ready for install.

insofar as color matching goes, I think that is it for now. I don't have plans to color match everything as the wheels are also 2 tone. I'll see how it comes together and go from there.

All of this plus I have to head back to work in Louisiana as soon as the storm aftermath is complete. Hence, the rush and timeline.

Thanks.

Fluid level checks and tire rotation. Getting ready for another hauling trip this week. This time to Bowling Green and Beach Bend. LS Fest Thursday-Sunday. Visiting the National Corvette Museum, a little bit of track and show at LS Fest.

Yep! Took the family there last year. They made the hole issue part of the displays. Lines on the floor outlining the hole and other lines outlining the cavern underneath. They have a section of the museum with videos showing the collapse, the recovery and the rebuilding. They did a great job.

They have the various corvettes that were beyond repair in display with the dirt from the sinkhole still on them.

It is definitely different than when I was there in 2002.

Yes sir, that is the place. They have an entire display of the “sinkhole cars”. As much of a vette fan as I am, I’ve never been there. I’ve run the track at the museum with my Camaro, but have never been inside the museum. Figured while down at LS Fest, I have to walk into the place this time.

You will definitely enjoy it. My wife is not a car person and she really enjoyed it. They typically have a few corvettes that you can buy raffle tickets for. At the end, the gift shop is pretty nice as well.

Deleted some of the chrome for a more monotone profile. Still undecided on the tinted Taillights though...

The tinting of taillights would be scary in South Florida because when I am going 70 MPH and come to a dead stop on I-95 [which happens daily] I would want the vehicle behind me to see my taillights ASAP in between their quick texting breaks. If anything I would make them brighter.

But that is just me. To each their own.

With that said your Yukon Denali looks awesome.

Looks good, nice work. What'd you do to black out the roof rails, side steps, and rear bumper pad? Can you share what's painted and/or vinyl wrapped?

I pretty much vinyl wrapped or removed all chrome body parts.

Gloss black wrap: window trim, grill bezel, rear bumper pad, side steps, door mouldings.
Matte black wrap: roof rails.
Painted: Grill, GMC logos front and back, fog light bezels.
Tinted film: 3rd brake light, tail lights, front marker lights.

I also debadged all the way around.

Next on the list will probably be the GMC/Brembo front brake kit with the rear calipers color match paint/powdercoated. I'd also like to do something with the exhaust note. Debating between a full Magnaflow catback or just doing the muffler swap to the Magnaflow 12909. I know Corsa is brand of choice on these boards but I'm not a fan of the step down in pipe diameter.

I would love to also do a 2/3 or 2/4 drop but I've got a ton of money tied up in an extended warranty. I plan to talk to my dealership service manager and feel them out for exactly how much they are willing to let me get away with.

The final mod will probably be a step up to 24" wheels. I really like the look of the Nitto Terra Grappler on 24's that I've seen others do online. That will probably be my tire of choice along with an open spoke wheel design if my dealership says "No!" to the lowering kit.

I actually agree with you. 99% certain the tint is probably coming off this weekend. I didn't realize it was going to be as dark as it turned out.

Chrome delete looks great! Good choice. That remains on my "to do" list and remains in work.

Good job.

I did a Magnetic Ride delete on my 2016 Yukon Denali XL 4 wheel drive with a 6 inch Fabtech lift. I ended up going with dirt logic strut in the front to accommodate my 6in Fabtech lift

Header install, Spohn Performance panhard bar, and lower control arm installation complete.

Lessons learned?

The exhaust manifold connection that interfaces with the braided portion of the exhaust is preloaded resulting in the clamp not sitting correctly. There was evidence of a small leak as witnessed by black soot around most of the flange interface. Bulletin reviews confirmed that there is a larger clamp that is used at this connection.

This explained why we had a slight exhaust leak at this location when we were going over the install and work performed. I checked around and found a dealer that had the updated / replacement clamp. This was after I called ARH for technical support, got transferred left a message and no callback (still waiting). In the interim I drove ~ 25 miles to the dealer that had the clamp and dropped it off to get the install effort complete.

Spohn upper control arms could not be installed due to no location for leveling sensors. Need to come up with an alternate source to secure, relocate it, bypass it or leave the uppers uninstalled (not the preferred option).

Good progress overall in spite of a few obstacles.

^^^ Yes sir I agree.

Unfortunate about that. I called to check if there was something missing or a different part number that I should have ordered. I confirmed that there is none available at this time. The upper control arm install is on hold for now as I am running short on time while the mod and repair list continues to cycle back and forth between level of mod completion vs all other items needing attention. It never ends. LOL..
