What can I expect to spend?

Im looking to purchase a Pioneer AVIC z120bt or similar kenwood for my 2010 LS. Id also like to add a backup camera with this. What am I looking at spending for these items and installation buying from a dealer?

Or would it be cheaper to buy all the components myself as well as the PAC attachment from other places and have it installed.

Also how willing are these installers to do a bypass on the unit and does it lose the warranty when done?

Heading up to the shop this friday just wanted to see what I should expect so I can deal with them.

Its gonna run about $1400 best case scenario and about $1600 worst case for the Pionner/Kenwood HU and the PAC steering contol modules, back up camera and PAC factory integration modules and install.
Installing yourself will only save you like $100 so its not worth it of you are not familiar with electronics.

Also you may want to wait a month or so, because starting tomoorw new stuff will be coming out at the CES show to replace the Z120BT and the Kenwood equivalent (DNX9960).

Most probably will not bypass the unit because it may land them in trouble, but doing it yourself is easy and your warranty will be fine.

I got the the whole bundle on amazon including the avic z110 (same screen not as new firmware) with the pac os 4 and pac swi ps which is for bose/onstar and steering wheel control. I also got the factory nd bc 4 rear cam and usb/ipod cable from pioneer, msn direct tuner, and HD radio for the add-ons. It ran me about 1k for screen and then about 400 for all the extras. 1400 before the dash kit, wiring harness, and labor.

Installation at my local audio store for all of this would run about $200. Fortunately a friend of mine works at that audio store and helped me out for a nominal fee. I can do it myself but like Modded said, if you aren't 100% comfortable with the insides of your car, the install cost is well worth it. My local shop does em but it's real easy to do yourself. Go to avic411.com for detailed instructions on the bypass for any pioneer nav screen.

x2 on waiting until after CES. First, because the new product could me much better, and second, there may be a significant price drop as Pioneer tries to move old product before the launch of the new gear.

I agree that if you don't have experience with install at all you should probably just find a shop to do it, but, if you're handy at all it's really not that tough to handle the install yourself.

Yeah good call on waiting, I could see them dropping prices to move the old stuff.

I also was gonna attempt this myself but after seeing some horror pics in other threads I decided its probably best to have it done right the first time.

As far as the camera what do you guys recommend? nd-bc4 rear cam is the one I was lookin at but where is this thing mounted? any better bolt on option over the license plate that would be better?

I have the ND-BC4, it's mounted just above the license plate. Works great for me. The low-light performance wasn't exactly what I wanted, but after I swapped my stock reverse lights for HID's it was perfect.
