Weird module near my rear view mirror

I just bought a 2002 Tahoe LT the car has this little box mounted near the rear mirror with what looks like a microphone next to it. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight into what this is and what it does. It looks aftermarket to me almost like something for a aftermarket radio but the car came with a stock one so I’m kinda stumped. Any help would be appreciated.

IIRR, I think it is the microphone for On Star? I may be wrong because I had one too and never cared, on my 2002. I think it was asked before here what that is.
