I personally like to coat the gaskets in a very, very thin layer of o-ring lubricant (go to your local diving shop). Barring that, you can put them on dry provided you don't have any pitting on your block, which you shouldn't if your system has been maintained. If you do have major pitting, use paper gaskets coated on either side with a thin layer of RTV. I like threebond(hondabond). Else use the stuff of your choice. Prep the surfaces well, make sure it's D R Y. No coolant dribble nonsense or the stuff won't stick well. A wipe with alchohol or brake clean is helpful. Toss it together using the torque spec above and LET IT DRY for 24h. Not 6, not while you eat lunch, give 'er time to set up proper before you fill and put the system under pressure

Oh, and when filling, pop off the upper rad hose and toss some coolant down that way. It'll stop the pump from getting airlocked, which can happen if you drain the system way down if you pop a freeze plug out to get everything.

that means you go in a x pattern first time just snug, then go around again also in a x pattern a little tighter
really should have a tq wrench but... so be it.
so alternate bolts like you would putting lugs nuts back on.
no rtv needed the pump gasket should have a seal already

I can’t believe the stupidly of the people posting on this topic. 1st pass, 2nd pass??? Morons
Yeah 11lbs is correct and 2nd pass breaks bolts off you idiots.
22 lbs is the torque for the pump body, NOT THE PUMP/cover.

I hoped someone is spared by my submission. The whole idiotic post should be deleted if not edited.
