Used 1000 grit sandpaper to remove oxidation. Now I need to remove the scratches.

damn bro, 1000 grit sand scratches are gonna be hard to remove. i won't go into the reason as its very boring. you need to get some 1500 maybe 2000 and go over those scratches to remove the 1000. them get a good polish, hate megs stuff, i use only menzerna and some different pads. or better yet take it to a pro

i actually thought I grabbed a sheet of 2000. Live and learn is exactly correct.

The good news is, I only sanded about a 3" x 3" area in a few spots.

yeah megs 105 will only remove 1200 grit scratches... and honestly it usually doesnt remove them all the way.. you need to get 2k paper on there, then polish with 105/205.. Or menzerna, they make good polishing compound, but they r pricey.

Oh so you'll be ok doing such a small spot. Just get some 1500 and 2000 and sand lightly to remove the deep scratches then buff.

I think I hate 3M just as much as megs lol. I do like megs new 105 for cut but that's about it.

Thanks for all of your help everyone!

I sanded the 1000 down to 1500 and then down to 2000. Got some Meguiars Ultimate Compound d and with some elbow grease was able to get about 90% of the hazing off. I think when I hit it with a PC it'll be good as new.
