2017 ppv BTR stage 2 cam. Speed engineering ling tube headers, volant intake, 3 in custom exhaust. Ok I love the idea of black bear, but I have reached out and was told that they dont do tunes for the 5.3 with after market cam shafts after 2014 because they can be unpredictable. Ok that's cool, what are my options other than them, and other then trying to find someone local that I dont know and risk running into the same problem Im already in, where the truck was tuned half assed by someone that sounded good and had all of the equipment but the thing drives like shit and shifts bad

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

Lots of knowledgeable folks here who freely share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives. Knowledge is power.

I hope that you will become a participating member in the Forum's discussions.

Pics of the truck, please.

You are certainly in a mess now. If you provide the city that you are nearby to, perhaps, some other member of this Forum may have some information on local performance shops. That still seems to be your best option. You could purchase HP Tuners, but you'd have to learn it yourself, and I have no idea what the learning curve is for that, but I suspect that it is not short.

There is no curve. It's an overhanging cliff.
I have HP Tuners and it's hard, at least for me.

I need to get more pics of my rig, but that's a decent one. Im in montevallo AL. I havent dealt with tuning in a long time. I got the truck from my dad who is in Texas. I have heard about HP tuners, and I have no idea what software the guy used before but I know he tuned the transmission ad well

Lol that would be cool. But im not sure if they would go for it. The guy was pretty cut and dry that he was going to do it because I had a cam maybe that kind of situation is why they don't any more which sucks

I have a Diablo Intune I3 Platinum for my 16 Denali XL and could not be happier. Diablew also has options for custom tuning as well - similar to the black bear method. The Intune I3 has some custom tuning ability that I love playing around with - it’s amazing the affect some parameters have! But it also has ‘canned’ tunes that you can install also.

Where are you located? Maybe consider remote tuning if you can't find one within driving distance.

these guys are the go-to for GM in my area. they do mail order tunes as well.
Thanks ill check into them, I still need to fund time to get the exhaust fixed, lol the long tubes weren't designed ti run cats but the managed to stuff them in there so they are sitting right on the cross member, and its full of leaks

I have a 2015 Yukon Denali and I use HP tuners. Here's the reason Gen V's are so difficult; this new ecu doesn't allow people to 'spread-fudge' like you can with the Gen 4 and below. You gotta know what the heck you're doing. That means you have to go to school to learn the ins and outs, you can't guess. It's too complex. Even gen 4 is like this.. You also have to send in the 8L90 TCU to HP tuners and have it unlocked.

I re tuned my brother's 2011 truck and he paid good $$ to have it done by the guy who rebuilt his engine. I let him drive it like that until he asked for help, I didn't want to talk trash.. lol It was bad.. I guess transmissions are expendable to that guy haha.. It was slamming gears like a teenager.

That said, when I rebuilt my engine(the 6.2) I went with less duration(think 5.3 cam specs) based on the data I collected prior. It's a damned rocket up to 50 mph.
