I did an oil change on my 2007 gmc delanli with a 6.2 and treads came out with the drain plug. What is the best way to fix this? I had to run to the parts store and put in a rubber plug to hold me over until I am able to fix it right. Do you recommend replacing the pan or taping out and putting in a new drain plug?

I used both of these to get me by until I got the pan replaced. I am not a big fan of drilling an tapping an oil pan on the vehicle. I be afraid of not getting all the aluminum shavings out.

I used this first, my ass was puckered driving with it but it did it's job.

Then I came across this:

You can get the next size up oversized drain plug... They actually come in two or three sizes oversize at most part stores....but... I would just replace the oil pan. Gives you the excuse to do the o-ring on the oil pickup tube.
