what safe temperatures we are talking about here ?
The factory setup ensures that many of those 6L80 transmissions are dead by about 100K miles. It brings the transmission temperature up to the same as the coolant.

People either "flip the pill" or use the lower temp units which greatly extends the life of the transmission. Removing the thermostat inside the housing disrupts flow and kills them too. Flip it, replace it, or get a different block.

Great, yet another thermal wax valve to go wrong in an automotive setting! The Mazda crowd have been 'enjoying' those for decades. Luckily, the usual failure mode is open, so when it fails, you're essentially in valve open mode all the time.

This is good info, though. We recently placed an order on a new Sierra LT4, so I'll have something to look forward to when it arrives.

When I did a drain and fill on my tranny, I installed a bypass valve, which keeps tranny temps cool.

There is a good video that I used for assistance. The job is super easy if you have the right tools.

No, if you intend to sell it before 2029.
If, however, you want to keep it well beyond that, certain mods are famous for improving drivability, longevity, and durability beyond OE.
Yes, deleting Cylinder deactivation (instead of just turning it off) is one of them.
Yes, tuning is another.
Yes, depending on your use case, better axle gears may also be in the mix.

With the Transgo or Shift Technologies kits, is one better than the other? I know to avoid the clones on certain online sites.
