well im off to look at my rpo.

but in the mean time, according to this page, m30 was 4l60e.

the 4l65e just means an extra planetary, ...5 instead of 4.

www.hotrod.com/articles/spotters-guide-turbo-hydramatic-transmissions
Actually they say it has more than just an extra planetary: "The main improvement of interest to hot rodders is the 4L65E’s five-pinion planetary carrier that replaced the 4L60E’s four-pinion. More pinion gears help to spread the load, allowing 4L65E transmissions to handle more torque than their 4L60E brethren. Additionally, a better 3-4 clutch, improved input shaft, and a deeper pan for more fluid were added."

My fault gentleman. My 05 Yukon Denali has the 4L65-E. It my 2 02 Tahoes that have the M32 4L60E. When you have a 4L60E rebuilt it can be upgraded to the 4L65E specs. I ALWAYS put in Hi Energy Clutch kits in a 4L60/65. They last and take a beating while towing.
If you have the M32 it is a 4L60E HD which is actually a 4L65E. They called the 4L65E a 4L60E HD for awhile. A normal 4L60E has RPO M30.

hey you have a Corvette servo? How is your 1-2 shift?

I was told by the transmission shop that if I requested a Corvette servo, my wife would make me take it out. Because the one to shift would be super jerky. He said that the 4L 60 E in my car took care of that and all I needed was a trans go kit
My 1-2 shift is perfect, not harsh but it is firm. Your wife might not even notice but you will. My trans shop said the same thing, that it would be too harsh. They don't know everything I guess.

Mine is starting to get soft on shifts as well and I think I would prefer to just get rid of AWD and swap in a 4l80e.

You might get a tune from someone like BlackBear and remove torque management and change to firmer shifts at the same time. You'd be amazed how much better it shifts.

I'm in the "needing a transmission rebuilt" club now. I found a nice alto kit on eBay. Just got quoted $1800 at a local shop. Seems excessive when I can I buy an updated one from advance for 1300 and swap it myself and have a better warranty. What did you end up doing?
