Transmission problems

I have a 2004 Chevy Tahoe. Transmission is shot looking for a used one but I was told that I need a 2004 or newer is this true or will a 2000-2006 work? Don’t want to buy something that won’t work. All help would be greatly appreciated

There’s some internal differences that switched in maybe 2003 (pump gasket maybe iirc) that shouldn’t matter if you’re just swapping, then in 2006 (?) they added the input speed sensor which I believe changes the external connector and won’t be compatible.
