Hey guys...two and a half questions really.

1) Can a b&m shift kit be used in conjunction with the vette servo?

2) I've never worked on a transmission before...how difficult for me is it going to be to install a shift kit? Ive gone over the servo install several times and it seems pretty simple (annoying but simple), but the kit install seems pretty complicated. Think I can hack it?

3?) If the kit and servo cannot be used together, which one should I go with for the most notable difference and firmest shift?

yes, but I personally wouldn't use the B&M kit.

if you have never done a tranny or messed with a valve body, leave that one to the experienced one.

I agree with Tracy. I would look into the TransGo reprograming kit.

Why do you say that about the b&m kit? As for experienced ones...every tranny shop I called said they wouldn't do either mod and that I would be fine doing it on my own...assuming they're hoping I break something and have to come to them to fix it.

thanks Art, it slipped my mind on brand, but agree 100%, Transgo.

sure Chris, you could, but may be a good time for a visual inspection (trained eye) to check bottom end and fluid, and get a flush while your at it.

South Carolina. All of them told me the same thing, that they don't like shift kits and wont install them.

I asked one guy why and he cut me off and asked what my goal was. I told him I wanted firmer shifting and he told me I could install one myself. Is it really that difficult?

No it's not that difficult. If you do a search of my posts there is a link I posted with pics of my tranny tear down and rebuild. Lots of pics of the valve body. I've done a B+M kit on several 350s and a Superior kit on my 4L60. You can do it in your driveway in an afternoon ... a Vette servo is a good upgrade while you are down there.

thanks man, I think I'm going to give it a go. I have a guy Im going to give a ring tomorrow and if he turns me down then I'm going to try it out myself. It just sounds really intimidating.

well if a ball is in wrong place, you will re-assemble and it won't shift properly. Instructions are good, relatively, but amazes me why a tranny shop wouldn't want to install one.

Odd. And to even ask "why you want it"...

B&M makes two kits...

I run the electric one. On Med, High was way to aggressive for me. I also have had a BB in person tune and justin upgraded my first shift, my 1-2 shift and pressure in my valves pending on how heavy my foot is. I also have a Posi real with a spool.
