anyone else create traffic breaks?

i had a nice one going on yesterday about 1000-1500 feet traffic break on the I5 ...

poor clueless drivers

basically i just went into the fast lane just 3-5mph over the limit then you could see the traffic build up and not pass you (maybe a few people had the nuts to pass you that was about it)

it did not matter as there was stop and go in front it would have made no difference time wise for anyone on the freeway

time saved would have been zero...

Really, there is no fast lane. The speed limit applies to all lanes.

Still, the grammar and attempt to communicate with this one has left me perplexed.

True, but slower cars are supposed to keep right, there's even signs on the highway that say that. Also signs that say keep right except to pass.

They also give tickets for driving too slow and impeding flow of traffic.

there was a ton of traffic rush hour it would not have changed anything for anyone
the time saved would have been 0 seconds

since it was a construction zone the speed limit is 55 anyways

I'm afraid I need this one decoded for me as to what exactly took place.

The OP got in the passing lane...
Drove slowly...
held up traffic...

Am I right so far? Is this something normal people do? And why?

So yes there are signs that say that, except they need to be bigger and in bright neon colors so people will see them! lol
The keep right except to pass law is not a law in California. It should be..... Because people pass so unsafely on the right lanes all the time. And it drives me nuts!

Need to create a traffic break it actually helped not hider traffic flow the traffic in front was traditional California stop and go and the traffic behind me was fast flow High volume.

stop and go is ******* the gas and brakes..

would you rather go 65 mph then 45mph then 60mph then 40mph etc....

or go a steady 50mph? That means I saved( counting every single car behind me) 20 gallons or more of gas total . lower gas consumption = lower demand = lower prices for all

IF every one would drive better the GAS price would be lower because of less demand for it..

I know every one complains about why their car is not getting great MPG etc..
and you Net timed saved would be 0 seconds 20-35% more gas used

it's just like the people who speed from red light to red light YOU saved 0 seconds congratulations and wasted 30% more fuel..

I don't complain about getting low gas mileage.

We have 4 vehicles.... 2 mustangs and the Yukon and Denali, none get good gas mileage

It's not your place Brent to "teach" them drivers a lesson. They're so steamed at being stuck behind you, they aren't going to learn a thing.

I set off for work around 0345 this morning and took a country road into the next town, one lane each way. 46 in a 45 and soon had 5 or 6 impatient drivers behind me. I was going to speed up to 52 to appease them but all of the oncoming cars were police cars! Eventually we came to a light and all turned left onto a four lane road, 2 each way. They began buzzing past me, well over the speed limit. Even at that hour, they still had to stop at the lights as we entered town and who catches up to them every time? Me, still cruising along at the speed limit. For a few miles anyway.

Tried to teach my oldest daughter this but she won't listen. Even seeing it happen hasn't convinced her either. It's her wallet now, I've done my part. She would take off at break neck speed in her Impala and old dad would pull right up to her at the next light. Sometimes, I'd even get ahead because I can read the traffic better. Sixty miles this went on and we pulled up to our destination less then a minute apart. Happens all the time.

In my misspent youth I would drive like a maniac in my muscle cars or in anything else with four or six or even eighteen wheels. One day however, I decided to time my drive to work over the most frequent route driving normal, like a maniac. 30 minutes. The next day I took the same route again and stayed with the flow, not scaring women and children or outrunning the cops, 32 minutes. All that wear and tear on the tires, extra fuel and ****** for the people around me ended almost overnight! Learned my lesson.

Sixty miles at 70 mph takes 51 minutes (rounded). Sixty miles at 75 mph takes 48 minutes (rounded). For short hops like this, it ain't worth it to me to run faster and harder. Now if we were traveling a much longer distance then it might make sense. I have to trade off the added stress of driving a higher speeds and my physical endurance on an even a slower pace.

Every man ought to work that out for himself while being kind and considerate to others around him.

I’m with you. I have a Denali, 2004 Grand Marquis and a ‘16 F150. My F150 SCREW 4x4 with 3.5 eco boost is my gas saver vehicle.

People would be shocked and amazed at how much gas they would save and how much lower their blood pressure would be and less stress they would have if they just got up and left 5-10 mins earlier for work.

It took me some time to learn this as well but it makes it so much nicer to drive anywhere.

When it comes to going anywhere my motto is " if your not atleast 15 minutes early, then you are late"... this accounts for the unforeseen things that you may run across during your commute like flat tires, break downs, accidents... you know, anything that others may want to slow down and rubber neck for... which slows you down.

HOWEVER.... not the OPs place to "police" everyone else... my 2 bits.

Seems to me you're setting up a potential "road rage" incident - what made you decide to be the freeway patrol?
