Do not run E85.

Also, running 93 octane will hurt you more than help you. Run the lowest octane possible without pre-ignition or pinging. These Tahoes don't have high enough compression to make 93 octane fuel necessary.

You can get away with 91 for sure...probably even lower would be better...depending on what's offered in your area.

I believe the '07+ 5.3s are 9.9:1 compression ratio, correct? There is absolutely no reason to use 93 octane for only 9.9:1 CR.

what if you did the BB tune with a 93 octane upgrade? i feel a difference in 87 vs 93 with BB tune, dont know about racing times but mpg and others have improved...

There are other factors that can make using a higher octane fuel necessary besides compression. I guess I didn't specify in my last post, but I meant for stock or un-tuned (and I don't consider handhelds to be true "tunes").

With a BB tune, I'm assuming Justin uses more aggressive ignition timing (among other things like better fuel maps, etc.) to increase performance with his 93 octane tunes so then, of course, you would want to use whatever he recommends = 93 octane. Otherwise, you may get some detonation, performance will suffer, and it could damage the internals.

However, just a little run of the mill handheld tuner like my Hypertech or a Bully Dog is not going to be aggressive enough to justify using 93 octane...

Hopefully you guys can run together (emann & tx). I would be cool to see the difference in performance with respective mods.

I see your point 2ELO, but 93 won't hurt him too drastically, if he was tuned. Most, even the handhelds respectfully adjust timing to where the detonation will come on faster. So I'd run the 93 if possible. It won't kill it like putting in 105 octane, that would be overkill.

Not to get your hopes up but in the xl with the 5.3 I took a 3000 gt until the governor kicked in, I was suprised but its a 6 banger. Yeah make sure you don't red light and no need to heat them tires up, power brake it a little. It is that time of year again, I'm itching for mid 10s in the SS at the track this year myself.

Ok guys I never posted this video on here due to the fact no Tahoes or yukons are in it. But it has a couple of the trucks that I may run with. In the first one you can hear the red trucks tires catch. Take in mind this is only a two block race.

It's alright we wouldn't have ran together any ways. I had to run with a vette so I got my but kicked. He also red lighted and I didn't. I only got to run once. I got there at 7:30 and ran at 11:30 so I had to wait for 4hrs to run only once. Here is my time.

2 bad you were only able to make one pass. Was it a ricer fest last night? i think your 1/4 was decent, but then again our Tahoes arent designed to scream on the 1/4 mile track.

It was mainly muscle last night. Some ricers and a few trucks. I was the only SUV out there next to a Jeep. Oh and I never got the chance to remove any thing and that was on a full tank of gas. So I was pretty heavy.

Nope I was eating Goldfish.

He was definitely doing something LOL,maybe your foot fell asleep for the four hour wait. I figured you would be there or quicker if I was dusting a 3000 Gt until the gov kicked in . Now buy you a compucar bag kit, we use to slap it on anything from my Honda to a rental Geo metro back in the day .

16.0? So what do I win?

What did the V6 Truck run?

---------- Post added at 09:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 PM ----------

So it may be a BADDDD idea but has anyone ever tried to reace in 4 wheel high? I bet it hooks like no other

It would only hurt you on the big end. You arent going to spin out of the hole on a decent track. Especially not with all of the weight of this tahoe. I cant even get mine to chirp 'em on the street.

Cool man, Congrats! Thanks for posting these times...

I'm sure it was crazy busy on a Friday test/tune night, especially in that area....
