Working on an Excel Towing Calculator I went through each owner's manual for the GMT-900 SUVs.

Here's something noticed:

For both the short and regular wheelbase 1500 trucks from 2007 to 2009 and 2013-2014:

Weight Carrying Hitch Rating = 600 Pounds
Weight Distribution Hitch Rating = 1000 Pounds

For both the short and regular wheelbase trucks from 2010-2012:

Weight Carrying Hitch Rating = 600 Pounds
Weight Distribution Hitch Rating = 1100 Pounds

For the 2500 Suburbans and Yukon XLs from 2007 to 2012:

Weight Carrying Hitch Rating = 1000 Pounds
Weight Distribution Hitch Rating = 1500 Pounds

For the 2500 Suburbans and Yukon XLs of 2013:

Weight Carrying Hitch Rating = 600 Pounds
Weight Distribution Hitch Rating = 1000 Pounds

So, are these typos or marketing or what? Does anyone know if the hitches are actually different?

yeah I checked the hybrid manual and got stuck in an infinite ∞ loop between the two manuals...
the hybrid manual says to refer to the other manual while the normal manual says to refer to the hybrid manual

loooks like someone drop the ball on that one.

Yes, my owners manual (2008) does say:

The trailer tongue weight (A) should be 10 percent to
15 percent of the total loaded trailer weight, up to a
maximum of 600 lbs (272 kg) with a weight carrying hitch.
The trailer tongue weight (A) should be 10 percent to
15 percent of the total loaded trailer weight, up to a
maximum of 1,000 lbs (453 kg) for the 1500 series
and up to a maximum of 1,500 lbs (680 kg) for the
2500 series with a weight distributing hitch.

And this is the sticker on my receiver:

That being said, my current trailer has about 1100 lbs of tongue weight, and I don't even use weight distribution. I guess that makes me a bad person.

Not a bad person, but possibly an uninsured person if you get in a wreck while towing overweight.

The frame revision...

Care to elaborate? What are your thoughts about the last two years being the same as the first three years (1500s)?

yeah I checked the hybrid manual and got stuck in an infinite ∞ loop ...

I noticed that too. I reckon then that the Hybrids would be the same as the other 1500s in their model year.

And this is the sticker on my receiver:

I have the exact same sticker on my 1500, right down to the part numbers Bill. That's bound to be an error on yours as it should be 1000/1500 according to the manual. My reason for posting all this though is to find out why some of the 1500s get an extra 100 pounds for a few years and what makes the 2500s so much more?

Not a bad person, but possibly an uninsured person if you get in a wreck while towing overweight.

I don't think that sticker is the right one for his truck.
