Sorry so heres all ive done to the car. New to me 2016 Tahoe LS with 120k.
When issue was first noticed (no check engine lights) i thought it could be a need to relearn idle, a vacuum issue, dirty throttle body or MAF dirty. Disconnected battery, reconnected and completed throttle idle relearn. Nothing. I completed a carbon cleaning on the throttle, and i tried to smoke test for a vacuum leak and i disconnected battery, cleaned the MAF. None where successful. After this i got a check engine light.
P0097 Intake Air Sensor 2.
P00F4 Humidity Sensor Circuit Low.
P0102 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Circuit Low.
P0113 Intake air temp sensor 1 circuit high.
And a P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2
All but the last one seem to be MAF from my understanding of where the sensors are so got a new MAF, inspected the air filter(looked clean enough but got a new one anyways) continued with troubleshooting, checked for miss fires. Decided to change spark plugs because I do not know when last they were done. Replaced both spark and spark plug wires (found some brittle and one that looked like it was not connected (although no miss fires or anything showing a fault with it)
All spark plugs unfortunately had just had the carbon cleaner clean them so data from them.
I inspected all vacuum lines and hoses at throttle body to ensure they where connected properly. Replaced Positive Crank Ventilation Valve (suspected it may be bad, it was)
Replaced Vapor Canister Vent (suspected it may be bad, i don’t think it was, replaced anyways)
I believe all this cleared my MAF codes but they are stored in permanent codes and only code that keeps coming back after clearing is CAT code. Ill handle that later.
I then tried taking readings to get hopefully some useful data on closed loop/open loop fuel trims to look for indicators. I had gotten data for idle and was trying to get some at 2k rpm. Thats when I saw the issue experienced in my post.
Thanks for your help. Im in SoCal, been to Oregon, like it more than here lol also got a 2009 Suburban for the 9 seats. Runs great. We have 6 kids about to get a 7th. Ones a bio, we have adopted the rest.
TLDR: 120k miles on vehicle.
Items related complete are as follows.
Throttle Idle Relearn procedure.
MAF and air filter inspected/replaced.
PCV and VCV Replaced
Spark plugs and spark plug wires replaced.
Items unrelated but recently completed.
Oil and filter both Engine and Transmission (no noticeable issues in trans, oil a bit black but stuff on magnet was minimal)
Trans temp bypass valve installed ( was in the 190-210 now in the 130-150’s)
All TPS sensors replaced.
Smoke tested exhaust system for leaks.
