Hi all:

A couple of times recently, I've been driving at interstate speeds, and floored the accelerator pedal, only to find that the truck keeps accelerating for a few seconds after I lift. As you can imagine, this is quite disconcerting! It only happens if I completely floor it. I've ruled out a floor mat or anything else unintentionally pressing on the pedal. And I've lubricated the pedal pivot to make sure it's not sticking. Is there something in the drive-by-wire system I should check, like the pedal position sensor? It isn't physically loose. I would think if it were failing it would set a code.

of the pedal isn't physically saying down when you lift your foot, than yeah. I'm surprised it's not throwing a code.

with the air tube off the throttle body and they key on but not running. you should be about to watch the throttle blade move with the pedal. maybe have someone else for wot while you watch to see if it sticks?

Worn out throttle pedals are fairly common. Literally a 5-minute removing replace. It's basically just a rheostat that's constantly being adjusted. I'm surprised they last as long as they do.
