I have not seen too many 2500 Series Yukon XL's or Suburban's on this forum, so I wanted a place to congregate.

Anyone else have one?

I'm not familiar with the number system of these trucks and always wondered what the 1500 and 2500 referred to. I am assuming in general tahoes are 1500's? What is the difference? Please enlighten me......

2500 is 3/4 ton, so it can haul and tow more and has larger engine options. Its like a 2500 pick up truck. tahoe is only avail in 1500.

1500: 6lug, 4L60E transmission, 8.25" front diff/8.6" rear axle, coil rear suspension.
2500: 8lug, 4L80E transmission, bigger axles, body sits higher on frame, leaf spring rear suspension.

All tahoes are 1500s, they only made the yukon XL and suburbans in a 2500.
