Really love the progress on this truck! It's super clean! And as much as I despise how much of a pain in the ass it is to clean those ck375s, they still look so bitchin when they are all cleaned up!! Lookin good man! If you weren't clear across the country from me I'd offer to detail it for you and give you a good price on the multi stage polish! Lol.

George your pics always look great! And I can never get tired of seeing your clean Denali parked next to a good aerial! Mid-ship with platform??? Pierce, KME, Seagrave? As for your headlights, I went through the same problem as do most of us on here with the NNBS bodystyle. I had a local do my retrofit, but there are several others on here. I have heard nothing but great things about BlackFlame along with the person mentioned above in this thread. Mine were a bit on the spendy side, but I justified it with the fact that it was the best safety mod that I could possibly make short of doing a BBK. It is worlds different now and even have better visibility and light throw/coverage than my parents with their Cadillac CTS.

Best of luck and let us know which way you go with the lights!

Joe

Thanks dood! Always appreciate the compliments!
That thurr is ah 2012 Sutphen (Ohio) Mid mount Tower (same ones you may have heard about a couple 2-3 years ago collapsing for no reason and trapping/injuring FFs in the bucket - one dept had to use the jaws to extricate their guys from the bucket when it came down and crumpled around them) the truck itself is extremely nice, however it's been out of service more times than any other rig in our fleet, mostly due to pure garbage coolant hoses and clamps, seems at least once a month it blows a line and pisses coolant - usually on our way to a call....

Positive Update Time!!: Will post pics if anyone is interested or curious, it's not exactly super thrilling, but it is an item I can "X" off my dream board lol. I finally got around to purchasing and installing the Magnuson/SCOL HD Tensioner kit! It's been at the top of my "future mods/to do" checklist since I installed the blower over a year ago now... so for me it's not only a step in the right direction, but a big relief to finally have that piece of the puzzle installed.
The base Magnuson tensioner pulley bearing was starting to growl at me in the cooler temp/cold start mornings, and it even got to the point where I'm certain the bearing started failing at times causing the pulley to drag and grab the belt, one particular day the growl was more noticeable and a slightly different pitch, popped the hood and immediately noticed two full ribs of the belt were riding completely off all the grooved pulleys... lucky me I noticed it in my driveway or else it could have been a mess out on the road.
In the same time it took me to lever the tensioner and slide the belt back into place I simultaneously hopped on SCOL.com and ordered the HD kit to the tune of $170 some odd bucks... lucky again, it arrived and I installed BEFORE the stock Magnuson one completely failed.
I mentioned this item was towards the top of my list since the blower install... and if some of you have been following this thread you know I previously (back in 2004) had a similar setup going on with a silverado ss (Magnuson Radix MP112 @ 12-14 lbs boost etc etc)... I learned my lesson well from back then, the week I pulley'd down from the base 5.5 lbs boost to 8 or 10 lbs. I quickly snapped the stock mag tensioner in half... naturally warranty-d it installed another and snapped another... went through about a tensioner a month habit till I learned the driving and load conditions that caused the failure repeat, and ALWAYS carried a spare tensioner, belt and 15mm socket wrench in a neat little kit in my truck.
Obviously the HD tensioner kit didn't exist back then... I did have a buddy at Ktech that offered to design and cut me one from billet for circa $700, I was flattered and appreciative but not interested in dropping that kind of cash for a tensioner... I did however find an alternative stronger unit by gatorback, which every one I purchased I had to mill slightly as well as swap the pulley with a fresh gates unit... the result was a moderately stronger tensioner that could take the hard decel hits a few times more than the base gates, but essentially cost me the price of two units each time... by the time I sold that truck, the HD kit from Magnuson still hadn't been developed!
So naturally when I decided to slap a Magnuson on my Denali, this was a major concern to me, for when I were to inevitably pulley down and boost up... thankfully this kit existed, and thus, top o my list!

** next up **
Black Bear tune! I have already purchased the efi live tune kit -used- with plenty of available credits left on the unit, so I just have to shell out the $300 for the tune now...

** after that **
Fresh spark plugs (LS9?), 2.8" (9.5/10 lbs) pulley, re-install my factory e85 injectors, crank pin kit, update black bear tune, and MAYBE figure out how to modify an aftermarket (probably FAST) fuel rail to work with my Magnuson setup (currently I have the earlier style TVS kit that utilizes the factory fuel rail, modified with an over-the-top of the blower cross over tube) not only is it unsightly, but it just seems flimsy and basically a poor design... the only other option is to swap out my blower base with a new tub from SCOL for just under $400 then also purchase the updated nice polished billet Magnuson fuel rail and cross over kit for it (another $300ish bucks) - the difference is that the injector seats on the blower base are vertical on the newer/updated TVS units... on my older style the seats are angled, and they never made a Magnuson rail for those few short years that the seats were angled, they chose to maintain the factory GM rails and just provide a taller crossover tube with their blower kit.... now I'm not certain there is much, if any, performance to be gained by doing all this, but what does draw me to getting rid of the over-the-top crossover (other than looks) is the fact that I would be getting rid of two possible fuel leak points on the system (modifying the GM rail to accept the Magnuson over-top crossover involved slight bending and tweaking that originally caused me some leaking issues... being a firefighter, leaking fuel on top of my engine isn't "super cool", obviously I corrected it, but now it's always at the back of my mind etc etc)

Back in early March I was EXTREMELY close to trading my Yukon in for a new 2017 Chevrolet SS Sedan (they were offering 20% off! - I already had an LSA TVS on standby even!!).

That is some update. Cool read!

This made me think of your truck - watched a Vacation documentary and a local black Platinum Esky with a bent passenger tip that I see every day and cringe with mom driving. Grrr..

Oh man! I do remember those! Very scary to have that kind of reliability issues! My department used to have issues with some of our older Pierce equipment, but it was more from a poor mechanic vs equipment problem. We now have a new group of mechanics and our aparatus haven't been this well taken care of as long as I can remember. It has been great. They really bust their butts and even respond out to us in the field if we break something on scene of a fire.

I've been pondering this very same delema right now!!! I'd LOVE to have an SS with the manual! Unfortunately it would require me to sell my 72 Chev along with trading in the Denali... I found a 2016 with only 4k miles on it with the manual for sale here locally. They're only asking 38k due to it being at an Alfa dealership. Still tempting to buy.

Ugh... P0300 (only... no additional/specific codes like 301/302 etc etc) - Barely runs, idles like I have the biggest cam in the world, sounds absolutely awful (happened Friday morning)....
"This is why we can't have nice things!"
Had to forge on an head out on our planned trip/vacation to Chicago, there now, back home tomorrow night-ish... will start with fuel pressure (take a fuel sample while I'm at it), then brake kleen around the intake, then disconnect the Y pipe/cats and give that a shot...
Off the cuff... I'm thinking cats or intake gasket... catch 22... intake gaskets cheap, but timely... cats easy but pricey... ugh... why!?!?!?!?!?

Wow, just read through this whole thread, lol, nice build so far. I'm really tempted to put an LSA on my Denali....

Should have traded it on that SS. They're soooo nice....

Bah, thanks, I really appreciate it!
The SS would be a perfect fit on all fronts except it would most likely have to endure at least one if not two salty Michigan winters... plan was to snag one now while my kids are smaller (1 and 3 yrs right now) then have it paid off by the time they've out grown it, save it as my cruiser/project/hot rod etc etc and get back into a full size, but as I know very well, life doesn't care about your plans lol.
LSA and your Denali you say eh? Dooooo itttttt! You'll get more than enough help between here and perf trucks and the LSX sites... my case excluded, the drivability with a roots is absolutely beautiful... and of course the power is a blast as well, I love beating up on coyote mustangs around dearborn with the AC on and my kids giggling in their car seats the whole time Bah!

Update:
Checked fuel pressure and quality, good there. Ran the truck while spraying carb cleaner around intake gasket, air duct and vac lines, no spike in R's, so I pulled the Y pipe and ran it briefly with open manifolds... super loud but idle seemed to be fine leaving me to believe the cats are plugged, though, I'm not resting easy as the cats aren't rattling nor did any crap fall out of the Y when I removed it and shook it around... I blew compressed air through it and it seemed like a LOT less was coming out compared to what I was spraying in... so I'm hoping this is the right avenue to go down...

Currently awaiting both funds and parts availability for a replacement catted y pipe.... magnaflow is "currently developing" a high flow cat system for my truck (a lot of good that does me now). And the factory replacement from my local GM dealer is "currently unavailable" ($900 with my old employee discount when they finally do locate me one).
I've been heavily on the fence about doing long tubes with high flow cats from Am Racing or Kooks etc etc (around $1500) however, tuners that I trust ensured me it would sound AWFUL with Corsa Sport and LTs... which really bums me out as that would be the no brainer replacement for this situation.... also, I've yet to do LTs on any of my LS# vehicles and have always wanted to....
Was told if I were going down that road to get rid of my Corsa and replace with two magnaflow mufflers... that's way too expensive of a rewind for me...

Anyone on here running that setup or similar?
Anyone in the Detroit area so I can listen?
Anyone on here have an old 4x/awd 6.2 catted Y pipe laying around they wanna get rid of?

Sure wish this would have happened closer to July (first paycheck in July has a significant holiday bonus) then while she's down I could have tackled the brakes upgrade, upped the boost, pinned the crank, swapped the injectors and plugs, and knocked out a few other projects I've been planning for.... again.... life doesn't care about your plans! Bahaha, ugh...

Why not get a speed engineering y pipe to replace yours? Magna flow high flow/spun cats are only 40-60 bucks a piece. So you would be under 375 easily vs 900

Because I didn't know such a thing exists! Lol! So SE makes a Y for our trucks to replace the factory? Not JUST for their manifolds/headers????
