I'm so tired of the factory nav repeating the message "Please stay on the current road" like every 2 seconds.
Is this a fault with the system or does everybody's do the same thing?

I'm about ready to put in an aftermarket unit

I travel with my Garmin on the dash. It may not be as flashy, but its a hell of a lot smarter...

Just go ahead and mail it over here :) I'll use it for you, I'l even update it to 2009.
It has to be better than the Mapquest App or Map App on my iPhone.

Seriously though, what software version are you running?
I have not heard this complaint before.

I wish I had the Ducats to buy it off you.

I updated the map disc that was on posted on here a little while back but not sure if this is a software glitch.
How can I update the software?

The map discs have teh software in them. It's automatic if it needs it.

Did you try simply turning off the voice prompts? According to the manual, you can do so when in audio mode

If you don't have a manual, go here

www.mygmlink.com

register by Year/model (2005 Tahoe was TNR IIRC) and you can download the Owner's manual for your nav. I'm reading it now.

(yes I do have the manual.pdf, the install .pdf and the nav Disc on my computer, but no NAV UNIT, LOL)

I don't have that prob. Maybe you got the wrong update for your vehicle. 2009 might not be the update for ur truck, the update are vehicle specific. I'm still rocking an old version like a 3.1 or something like that and it get me places just fine

no, he has the right update. it is the most current version of the nav software. If it weren't it wouldn't run it as the new ones are Denso, not delphi.

"Voice Guide in All Mode: Touch the On screen button
to hear navigation voice prompts while in Audio mode.
You may also touch the Off screen button to turn off the
voice prompts."

thats on one of the pages of the "nav setup" screen.

I'll let you know how it goes.

one final thing i just thought of, make sure the "nav repeat" button isn't stuck.

it it is it will just repeat the last prompt annoyingly over and over again.

no I checked all that and it doesn't do it all the time. Just at certain times it was say, Stay on the current road and then every 10 seconds it pings and makes the same announcement

As you approach any "major" intersections, like an exit to another highway, highway splitting off into 2, etc, the NAV will inform you to stay on the current road.

Are you sure it's not just instructing you as you approach these major turn points?

No it does that also which I understand.

It's like when I'm on a road where there are no turns for 5 miles and no intersections and it keeps repeating the "Stay On The Current Road" message every 5 to 10 seconds. But again it doesn't do it all the time.
