Tahoe Misfre Looks Like Intake Gasket

Well after taking the Tahoe to a friend of mine and running the codes it looks like cylinder 1 and 3 have around 4 thousand misfires. Only does it when its sat out all night cold. I am thinking it is not plugs and wires or a injector. Since the Tahoe has a warranty from the used car dealer I bought it from I took it back to them. It is going to the Chevy dealer but it will probably be Friday before they can even look at it.

Hopefully they square it away. I always get nervous about things like this. Only had my hoe for ten days.

Get some carb cleaner and spray on the intake while the engine is running, when the engine is cold, this should let you know if the intake is leaking. It has to be while the engine is cold though, a change in idle when sprayed will indicate a leak.

What year is your tahoe?

2003. As of right now its sitting on the dealership lot hopefully I will know something by early next week.

Well got the truck back yesterday. Runs GREAT! I am going out for my first cold start so we will see what happens. After that I am headed to pick up some products and its time for a little hoe rubbing. She needs her first good wash and wax since its still technically winter.

I thought I posted it I must have been so excited to get the hoe back i forgot.

It was an intake leak as I thought. They put a new intake gasket on it and now everything is running great. No misfires on a cold start this morning and my gas mileage seems to be much better now.

anyway sure way to check if its a gasket to be sure, i can spray it when its cold but its going to stumble already when its first cold

Thanks, me too! I just spent 3 hours washing, waxing, and cleaning the inside. I am wore out but damn it looks amazing.

I will try to get some up this week i went out driving last night and ended up in some mud so tomorrow i will have to wash out the wheel wells and the rocker panels.
