Are the Mid 90 to 99 models known for frame rust? If so how bad do they get? Anything like wranglers?
I found a '95 and the seller says the trucks in good condition. Surface rust. The rockers are just surface rust and appear that a sand and spray would be the only body work needed. The front of the quarters look great but when I saw the pics I am kinda skeptical about it.

Its got about 160K on it and he has the motor out of it as he put a new crank and all new bearings in it.

The engine bay doesnt look bad from afar but when I zoomed in on it, it has that dark poka dot rust look to it.
Pics.

Can't say the are "known" for rust, but environment plays a huge part... salt + moisture + steel = rust
Not sure if that helps your decision making process, but it's the reality of metal.

There's a company out called NH Oil Undercoating that makes a product that works to inhibit/stop the rust progression.
Also, your local Line-X applicator probably has a product that does the same thing without the oil.

I think you’d find many that aren’t rusty they sold millions of them but you can look on the htsb website for common complaints

its not a common issue with them but they are rather long and if left sitting in the grass for LONG stretches before someone fixes one or decides to sell it it can become an issue. second on big mamas comment if you were in ne pa i could probably find you one for a decent price less rust than that within a week.

Mine looks the exact same way. My plan over the summer is to knock down whatever rust there is and use some sort of sealer or fluid film on it before next winter, didn't have a chance to last year.
