Up visiting parents and in-laws (i.e. away from my tools and diag equipment) and the Suburban picked up an annoying issue.
In drive or neutral it randomly surges RPM, as high as 2k. A couple times I had to stab the brakes at a light to keep from rear ending the car in front. Every time it does this the temp gauge drops to 0 and then comes back up when the idle drops to normal.
I checked grounds and battery connections and they passed the wiggle test; I assumed an electrical problem given the temp gauge issue, plus the volt gauge has been at 15v all day. Naturally I can’t get it to reproduce the issue in the driveway, anyone have suggestions I can check when I get home tomorrow? Recent tune up and MAF/TB cleaning done.
