Sometimes out of nowhere when I hit my brake pedal to stop, the brake pedal pushes back and does not allow me to press it down and the truck keeps going (not good). When this happens, the truck makes a noise like a pump is coming on but loudly. It may not be a pump noise i am hearing but sounds kinda like one. Then, my truck will stop fine the next time I hit the brakes. Some times when I am pushing the brake, I can lightly feel it pushing back ina throbbing type motion on my foot, any ideas?

Then shuddering the brakes is the ABS working. But it sounds like it kicking in when it shouldn't..

Is it a 4wd? Is it mostly at slow speeds? If so, get your front hubs checked, if theyre going bad (which isnt out of the ordinary), metal shavings from the bearings may be getting on the front speed sensors and fouling them out. That causes your abs to kick in randomly as the computer cant read the individual wheel speed properly. An easy way to tell if the hubs are going is if you hear a grinding noise on the front end. Also, you should take it in to get the speed sensors tested and you may find out its a lot simpler... like a cut sensor wire... :hands:

unknown at this time.
the throbbing sounds like a warp rotor kicking back at you if you fell it in the steering wheel too. Otherwise as far as the abs kicking in to early if your tires and wheel are relatively stock the dirty sensor gaps would cause a problem at 5 mph or less. have you ever had the abs light come other than during engine start(it shows up then right?)? Even from early activation the vehicle should not withhold braking power from the wheels. Either your abs module or sensors are really screwed up or you have a brake part seizing somewhere.

If you hear the pump coming on it is most likely a speed sensor on one of the front wheels....ask me how I know this.

i got the same issue, mine is from doing the ball joints, i think we pushed them in too far ause it ground the toner ring down so when i turn it messes with the computer and says abs needs to kick in, i just pulled the abs fuse and problem solved

but ik what you mean, thats scary

Try this in a SAFE area like a parking lot. Pull the main ABA fuse under the hood (60amp I think) try the brakes again. The pedal should feel firmer and the issue should go away...other than there is no ABS

pulling the fuse only disables the ABS. The fail safe is standard braking. My instructions simply let us know that yes it is a sensor. I had the same thing happen twice now. scarey but soon the ABS light will stay on and the system will shut itself off anyway.
