I have an 04 hoe, with the factory 17" rims. I was wondering what the stock backspacing is?? Looking to get a cheap set of 15" steel wheels to run off roading tires on.. i know 15"s will fit if you put wheel spacers in..i believe it would take a 2" spacer. But it is illegal to run them in Minnesota..plus i don't want to spend the extra money for em...so can i get the same result by ordering my new wheels with a smaller backspacing??

I was under the impression that stock was 4.5 but want to make sure..w/o having to dig out the tire wrench and take one off.

Thinking i can order some steelies w/ 2.5" backspace and not have clearance issues.. looking at getting a 15x8 and plan on running 31x10.50 or maybe as large as a 33x 12.50.. just want em for fall/winter when i off road more and see snow..come spring the stock ones will go on.. i just figure i can save some money with smaller tires.

so if my math is correct then...i would only need a 3.5" backspaced 15" wheel?? Which would be like running a 2" spacer block w/o the hazards of a spacer... or would i need more backspacing for some reason?

I am curious about this, too. I want to get another set of wheels for winter use and I really like the look of the smooth capped '99 OEM wheels. I just don't know if they are the same backspace as my '02.

Are you sure a 15 inch wheel will clear the brakes? With 16 inch wheels on these trucks the brakes look really close to the wheels.
