Still a good idea to get the Range AFM/DFM disabler for 2015-2020 Yukon Denali with 6.2?

I am thinking about purchasing a 2020 Yukon Denali 6.2 and was wondering if folks still recommended getting one of those Range AFM/DFM disablers? Thank you.

I believe that the general consensus here is 'yes'. The AFM does little positive, and there is a real potential for eventual harm to the motor. Your best bet is to remove some of the related hardware, in addition to simply disabling the software, but disabling the software is a good first step.

Started using the Range device 6 years ago with no regrets. Didn't notice any fuel economy difference at all. AFM is purely a CAFE standard system, with no benefit to the owner.

Well, actually if you drive a gorillion miles and have zero related issues to the AFM hardware during ownership, you "may" save a few bucks on fuel...maybe even enough to treat the Mrs. to a night out of dining(at a Five Guys)

I used a Range disabler on a 2013 Silverado. Worked ok, but it would occasionally flake out and I'd have to remove it and reinstall it. Not a big deal. Disabling AFM won't automatically save you from a failed lifter. I disabled AFM on my 2020 Tahoe and still had one go out. (Granted those were both 5.3L...)

Engine size is meaningless. Get one, preferably one that also allows you to disable AutoStopStart (A.S.S.).

I've been using a cheap Chinese knockoff disabler from Amazon and it has worked great for $35. Gas mileage impact is negligible. I averaged 20.3 mpg highway on a 1000 mile roundtrip a week ago (5.3l vs 6.2l).

Vehicle owners typically calculate MpG to one digit after the decimal.
CAFE calculates it to THREE digits after the decimal, and then they add up every vehicle's scores.
In other words, the MpG improvement IS negligible for any ONE vehicle.

Make sure whatever you settle on is for your application. I tried using a range obdII plug in device that was designed for a 2014-2018 6-speed on my 2018 6.2 10-speed and my truck couldn't figure out what gear it needed to be in. Took that right out and got a pulsar lt instead, haven't looked back since.

for as much as those range units are for a smidge more you can get a whole canned tune device and not have to have anything plugged into the obd port and it can be put back to stock in like 1 minute. not as good as a traditional tune, but it is the best bang for the buck. Holley bought up most of the major brands years ago.
They have different models with different features, not sure if any of them tune the 10spd or not, you would need to poke around there website and look at the features of the various tuners.
