Stereo turns back on after getting out of the truck

2004 Yukon SLT, 5.3 Bose

I have had this problem for a couple years now, but have never really looked into it.

The stereo turns off after pulling the key and opening the door, but a lot of times the stereo will start playing again after closing the door. I will hear it turn back on before walking away from the truck.

I thought it was the stereo, so I replaced the factory head unit with a tablet setup and it is still doing the same thing. I have the tablet set to pause all music and sleep when it loses power, but it looks like the factory harness re-applies power after the door is shut with no key in the ignition.

It usually turns off after about 30 seconds or so, but a few days ago i had a dead battery, which tells me that it never turned off that time.

Any ideas?

Maybe your accessory wire (RED) is not functioning right or burnt. Have you tried another wire harness? Which harness do you have in now?? PAC??

I have the GMOS04 by Metra, but it did the same thing with the factory setup as well, so its not the harness.

mine did the same thing, couldn't figure it out, then after a while i didn't get any sound from any of my speakers. not too sure if they are directly related, but still trying to figure it out

hahahaha!! i'm still trying to research this problem, but can't really find anything. i also noticed that my chime doesn't come on anymore either. I'm thinking it might be the BCM.

Hmmm I just bought an 03 Z71 hoe a few days ago, and mine is doing this too. It has an a viper alarm system, and pioneer head unit. I haven't had time to research it yet but will be doing so the next couple days. When mine cuts back on it only stays on for a few seconds.

yea, i have a viper system in it too, but that seems to be working fine. I also have a aftermarket deck in it also. adding to the radio staying on with the key out of the ignition and everything locked, all my speakers went out at the same time, but my subs were still working fine, my chime isn't working either and i keep on getting a rear door open warning. still trying to find out what the heck is wrong with this thing. its getting pretty boring driving w/o any sound.

I have an Omega Echo alarm and it works fine along with the door chime. I can't figure it out.

After looking for a problem regarding why my stereo was staying on with the truck off and locked, I went ahead and just bought a new harness. All speakers are working fine, chime is working again, and the stereo shuts off when it should. Just waiting for my new deck so i can hook everything up again and have some music on my ride to/from work.

Yeah my wife’s 2014 Denali just started doing the same thing today after a car wash and dead battery in the car wash. Used a booster pack got it running carried on got home she went to go somewhere, pressed unlock jumped in closed the doors and the stereo was on??
