steering right after startup

04 Z71, about 160k on it. I do mainly freeway commuting, so within 2 minutes of startup I am on the freeway. For what I am guessing is about the first mile or two, my steering feels like there is a shake in the steering wheel. very slight, doesnt pull me out of a lane or anything. but just enough to notice. Seems like after everything warms up, the shimmy is gone. is this an issue of steering fluid coming up to temp. an early indicator of other worn components? I am not the first owner, but everything seems taken care of for the most part. other than this, no issues with steering or tracking down the road.

any ideas?

First off I'd recommend checking the fluid level for power steering and color of fluid! Next, is the shimmy/shake at a certain speed, and goes away or is it something else? Check all front suspension parts for wear and if parts move ways they are not suppose too. When's the last time you have had tires balanced?

Tires were just balanced less than 3000 miles ago. Ive looked at all the suspension, all seems tight. I know power steering is full, ill have to look at the color.

Some tires quickly develop flat spots after sitting. When they warm up the shake goes away. That is about the only explanation that makes sense. Loose steering components don't come and go.

i was considering that. it literally clears up after a mile or less of driving. so its not even a big issue. just thought maybe someone else had run into it.
